Just for Dave - Facets Guide to some of the WORST movies

May I nominate a REALLY bad movie? It is "included with Amazon prime" if you want to watch it... It is called "Protocol 734," and I was in the movie, I played "the general." It was BAD!

I would LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE HERE WHO WATCHED IT, even though it was a really bad movie, I was in it.... Could you tell me what a great actor I am?

Well, it was nice to see this old thread brought back.

So what bad movies have you all seen lately?

We've probably discussed it before, but it's really hard to beat "Last Eunuch in China", aka "China's Last Eunuch."

I think Sammo Hung will never, ever admit that he was in that movie. It's the crazy subtitles that make this movie so enjoyable, though.

"Tales from Earthsea" really pissed me off, as it didn't end. Bring me Miyazaki Jr's head on a plate!

Lai Shi, China’s Last Eunuch (中國最後一個太監) may not be the worst film ever made, but it should be somewhere on everyone’s list of truly awful movies.

While there doesn’t seem to be a preview on line, there is a brief IMDB listing:

There is, though, a pretty good copy of the entire film on Youtube, just without the subtitles. There is a very fuzzy version with Chinese subtitles as well. (There are several languages spoken in China, though most can understand the same written characters.) The semi-English subtitles are part of what makes the film truly awful.

The film is rather loosely based on the autobiography of Sun Yaoting, who apparently was the last eunuch added to the imperial court in China. He was certainly not the last boy castrated in hopes of imperial service, just the last one taken into service (though only briefly) before the fall of the Qing Dynasty.

Sun was born in 1902 and castrated at age 8 by his father in 1910. He died in 1996, and was the last surviving eunuch to have served the court.
