Personals Needs Expanding

Post by hkeunuch (imported) »

I have been on the EA Personals. But this service seems to need a lot of improvements. Friends are limited to 39 persons only. Tried to upload photos and it won't let me. Tried to upgrade my membership and even that option has been removed.

Sure hope that this service can do a lot more, at least offering what all the buttons promised.

The personals program is from an outside source. It has peculiarities and flaws but it has the huge benefit of being set up so we do not have to charge the users for the service. We are always open to suggestions for improvement but we are, as usual, without financial means to do all that we would like to do. --FLO--

As an *actual* eunuch, I would find helpful if the personals were audited for gender. Put another way, I get frustrated when I see someone identify their gender status as Eunuch or Nullo, when they are in fact NOT either. The status of Eunuch wannabe is available, and they should use that.

Frankly the gender of Eunuch or Nullo should be reserved for people who have had their testicles and/or penis removed. Not doing so bastardizes the entire personals system. This has been a thorn in my side about the EA personals for quite some time now, but I've remained largely silent until now.

I totally agree with you, Losethem. And I feel similarly frustrated in getting connected with some who misrepresent themselves.

But for all fairness, we cannot realistically expect EA to verify the truth of each person's claimed gender status. That's the downside of the Internet, isn't it. Everybody's identity could be completely fictitious and false.

Yep, I too have had no success in uploading photos. Other members have their photos there so there must be SOME way to do it. Any suggestions??

You're a regular member, cannot be upgraded any further.

The personals is an off the shelf system we got for free. Upgrades and improvements cost a few hundred.

Photos are currently set at one. You can't upload any more than that, for now.

We cannot possibly verify anyone's status insofar as being clipped in some manner. Anyone can create photos.... short of personal inspection, what do we do? Just realize that a good 90% of the people on the EA boards and Personals are here strictly for fantasy.

I searched personals using your email. You registered already on 10 July 2010 as noballs. You therefor cannot register again.

I too am an "actual" eunuch, but I have no idea how what you propose could be "audited." Frustration, misrepresentation and downright lies are all part of the internet. I think we just have to live with those realities. Usually, I can tell within the first few minutes of chat whether someone who claims to be a eunuch actually is such, so I'm not too worried about it.

Look guys the one thing i can say about the EA personal site is that it was a rush job to get something of the type up there...

A personals website is like a social site where people connect and share things with each other... Now i am not tell you good people at EA what to do but have you ever thought of maybe going open source and using something like ELGG to run the Personal site.

I have used ELGG for TAFE/UNI projects and it is full of usefull plugins and easy to make the way you want it to look... and if you think transfering users from one system to the other is hard all you need to do is sign up the people you have on the new system and send an email with User Name and Password that they have to change..

I would also like to offer my services to do this....

Any way that is my 2 cents (hehe or should i say 5 cents)
