My loyalty to my ophthalmologist is because after wringing my hands for decades over high intraocular pressures of about 20 with no damage to my fields, my, then new, ophthalmologist explained there is an observation that after lasik the IOP goes down. Thinner post fried cornea, less tinsel strength = less resistance.
With his machine he measured the thickness of my corneas and found they were thick. Using a chart he found my IOP had I normal thickness corneas was indeed normal. When I look back at my mother, her two brothers, my father all taking their glaucoma drops, I am grateful to this doc.
As if I could not be further impressed he had a new retinal scanning machine that worked via ultrasound. No more fields testing, yippie. Plus reassurance about the health of my retinas. Good for macular degeneration, detachments, effusions, etc.
As long as I have no visual changes, I'm gonna wait another six years.

So is it glaucoma, thick corneas or both that run in families?
Love my short corridor progressive lenses too. So convenient I don't even know when I am using them
