Since I have been trying to change my diet, I skipped the soda section and began looking in the section of the supermarket with the "healthy" drinks. I was paying attention to sodium and fat, so they looked good. Wifey pointed out the sugar. When you look at the sugar content of the drinks that boast all natural fruit and berry juices and come with brand names that are totally un-corporate, you will be horrified.

Ultimately, the solution almost has to be to buy a juicer and make your own, which is not all that difficult. That way you control sugar, sodium, fat, etc.

About 6 years ago I topped 200 lbs and I was devastated so I went on an type of Atkins diet that brought me down to 179 and I was very happy with that weight, but over the years I've gotten up to 225 as my highest weight, this was 5 months after my Orchiectomy. I have sense started a diet program called Body By VI. its two shakes a day with a sensible meal, for lunch or dinner. I have now dropped 26 lbs in the past 4 months, with another 24 to go to get me out of the overweight BMI. I also ride my bike more than 50 miles each weekend to give me the exercise I need. With this weight loss I have also removed 5 pills a day from my medication for Blood Pressure. I do feel better. The main thing that kicked me in to this weight loss regiment was my Dr. had categorized me as Obese, while it was just 2 pounds in to it, it was enough to piss me off. And no one likes a pissed off Eunuch!

Milkman,

This sounds like a bunch of Big Pharma / ADA claptrap to me.

There is a huge difference between ketosis and ketoacidosis. The latter is bad.

I've eaten this way since 2006 with no adverse effects, other than that the Dr. lost a pile of money on me.

Before switching to low-carb, I was being treated for allergies, chronic headaches, frequent bronchitis and pneumonia, chronic constipation, recurring UTI's, and the next step was being checked for fybromyalgia. (which in my mind, does not exist)

This switch in diet cured all of that.

This is exactly why I almost never share my success story with anyone anymore.

The things that the ADA/AHA endorses are just like telling a drug addict that it's OK to do a line of coke on Friday night, but stay away from the meth. Right...

I'm still waiting for that $500/lb. sugar/wheat tax, too.

I was over weight by 100 pounds a couple of years ago and joined WW and lost 95. But during that time I injected ever clear into my testles and now have no testosterone (0.4). Since then, my tastes has changed and I gained back all of the weight. I have bigger breasts now, and have lost a lot of body hair. I plan to re join WW and go back to the gym to get more muscle tone back. I am happy about being "castrated", just have to fight back the stuff that goes with it.

Good to hear.

Keep in mind that you may not show weight loss if you build up more muscle tissue.

This is by far my most successful thread. Too bad I started it almost 2 years ago and I'm still where I was. LOL I keep hoping I'll have the willpower to make it happen for me, but I'm a stress eater and my life the past 4 years has been filled with lots of stress. So I guess on that one the bad news is I have not lost weight, but the good news is I've not gained any. I guess that is success in a way.

I think River can understand why, he used to live in this town. *shrugs* I can say it has not improved at all since he left, and I understand completely why he did.
