The weight loss thread

Post by Losethem (imported) »

I've decided to move my comments and conversations regarding weight loss to a new thread to stop the threadjack of the Taco Bell "beef" thread.

So are any of the rest of you fighting the battle of the bulge?

When last we viewed the weight loss portion of the other thread Riverwind was telling me about his good weight loss since the holidays, to which I congratulate him.

Me? I've started this weight loss to get rid of girth that has gradually crept up on my body in the past 5-years. Back in late 2005 when I got castrated, I weighed about 180 pounds and by the time I hit my fifth anniversary, I was up to 240. Not good.

I was looking at a profile I had posted elsewhere and have a nude photo of myself taken in mid-2006, post castration, when I went skinny dipping at river, which at the time wasn't local to me, but is now. I looked amazing in the photo. I was trim, smiling, overall happy.

Fast forward to today. I weigh about 45 pounds more than I did in that photo (down from 60 over at Christmas). I've been writing down everything I'm eating and keeping track of my food for the first time in years. I'm hoping by the time I get to October and it's time to go vacation in Palm Springs or South Florida that I'll have my body in shape enough that I won't fear running around in the buff at a nudist resort. It would be nice to be stared at because of another persons desire and not because they think they need to roll me in the pool to save my life.

I'd enjoy hearing from any of the rest of you that are embarking on such a program to improve your physical health via a weight reduction. Perhaps we can support one another as we make our way to better health.

Yes i am also fighting to keep my weight down, not only because i want to get rid of some weight, but as a diabetic i need to keep my weight under conrol.

But it realy has been a battle to get it off and keep it off,for it seems that any weight that i do manage to rid of,just comes back and with a bit extra with i as well,i do try and watch what i am eating,ok not all the time but it doe seem that i am at war with my weight all the time.

im also a diabetic. i worked out every day twice a day and could eat whatever i damn well pleased and maintain a weight of 170 untill last october ( 2009 ). i had surgery and was unable to work out for 2 weeks so i never got back into it. since then i have gained 30 lbs but just recently had enough and bought an exercise bike to ride while i play playstation to get back into it. exercise is the key ( especially if you hate exercise as much as me ) when you pick up a snack in the store and read 300 calories per serving 6 servings in the pack and you know you'll eat the whole pack, you then think of all that shitty work you had to do to burn the last 1800 calories......and you then skip the snack.

Its not a case of me not having a liking for exercise, but due to 2 heart attacks and a stroke,i cant do the sort of exercises that i used to be able to do.

I would love to be able to all sorts but due to my heart condition i have t watch what i do,even a simple walk can truly take it out of me nd trust me that truly dose get me down.

exercise bike man. it can be as vigorous or as easy as u want it to be and if u decide you are tired, just stop. there is no walking or riding back home cause u never left. and you can stay in the comfort of your heat or a/c system. and they make some pretty ok bikes for 200$ or less

When I've done this in the past (yes, I'm always on a weight roller coaster), I normally take 2-3 pounds per week off for 3-weeks, plateau for a week, then start up with 2-3 pounds per week, repeat.

My roller coaster runs in an approximately 5-year cycle. I hit a high, lose the weight, then it takes 5 years to come back.

Anyone else have this going on?

I'm looking forward to having a nice body for a nudist vacation by October. Hopefully by this summer I'll be comfortable enough to go lay on the beach at the river.

Hi - I am 47 years old male from Germany. I am not castrated but i am very low on testosterone (for a man). I put on weihgt for years from at first 180 pounds to at least 245 pounds in november. Then i starte a weight reduction programm and within 6 weeks lost 24 pounds of weight. Based on my blood values i have been given a special diet plan that gives me enough food to become well-fed but helps me to reduce my body fat. Its combined with some workout. I feel very well and i think its the best way for me to reduce weight.

I am still working on it and i will stop for a while after i reduced at least 20 pounds.

I wish you all the best.

Before starting on Androcur, I used to work out regularly between some mild weight training and the treadmill. Since starting Androcur, I increasingly lost all energy, motivation, discipline. Over 4 years, I gained over 20 lbs.

Even during the first 6 months after stopping Androcur, I could hardly get myself to do any exercise.

Then I caught H1N1 and lost some 14 lbs in one week. Since then, I tried to not allow myself gain back any of the 14 lbs using a treadmill. I love to put on a movie or concert so I won't get bored and start looking at the clock. It works quite well. Sometimes, I don't want to stop until the movie or concert is finished.

I wish you all the best in this endeavour.

I guess I've never had a serious weight problem, but do tend to put a bit of weight on if I don't exercise enough. I weighed 155#s when castrated a little over 10 years ago. I was down from 165#s a couple of years earlier. I've since gone down to ~140#s and then back up to 155#s. I think I'm now at ~145#s.

The key for me is running. Nothing else - even fairly rigourous cycling - works. I have a regime of 9 or 12 km circuits every second day.

I'd love to have your problem Jeff. ;)

I couldn't get my weight down to 155 pounds if I exercised 6-hours a day and dieted. The best I've ever been able to achieve in my adult life is 167, and that was running 5-miles per day, full army exercise each morning, and walking nearly everywhere I went.

I hated that part of the Army. Just because they had a chart that said I was supposed to weigh 155 pounds for my height (AKA an actuary chart), they thought I was fat at 167. I get frustrated that the medical establishment has bought into this whole "you must be a stick figure" mentality as far as weight. My actuary chart says that I should weigh AT MOST 174 pounds. I was most recently there in October 2005 (just prior to my castration) and I wasn't eating all that much because I was under a lot of stress.

I'd be happy with 185 pounds. That is what I've weighed most of my adult life, as an average. It's also one hell of a lot better than 235, which was my high. *grin* When I get to 185, if I have a doctor tell me I need to lose weight I'll certainly be giving them a piece of my mind.
