More Attacks now Russia

Post by Riverwind (imported) »

The world watched as yet another low life set himself off as a bomb in the Moscow Airport. I send my condolences to our neighbors, this is a problem that dose not seem to want to go away.

Yet.

I noticed that Putin said he would take care of the problem or to that effect.

My question is this and is for our friend FHunter as you know him better then we do. Just what is he likely to do?

Hmmm, I suppose that there is always the Siberian camp for political dissidents. That ought to cool them right off.

Thank God that Russia doesn't have a Tea Party wanting to cut government defense spending.

Whatever Putin does I am VERY likely to support his action.

This truly was a tragic thing that happend in moscow, yet again the world has sen that in todays world there is nowhere safe from terrorists,it is the innocent people who lost there lifes that we are all thinking about at this time.

Lets just hope that those who were responsabile for this are hunted down and brought to justice, but not i hope at even more innocnt bloodshed,we all must get tougher on securityat home and abroad.

Maybe if they were operating their security protocols, the Russkies could have prevented this event. I read there was no security screening, as aided this event.

💡 Seems like there are eras that breed terrorist. I am thinking of the bomb 'throwing' Anarchist and Nationalist of the later nineteenth century up to the initiation of WW1 for example.

The Russians just had their recent political terrorist event and 🇺🇸 had their's not quite a month ago. Feels like we are in one of those eras.

Do we sacrifice Liberty for Security?

Gonna PM fhunter now and see if we can arouse him to this thread. :)

Russia doesn't have a Tea Party. But it does not help.

Defense spendings? Switch from draft to contract army. Failed, 100 000 million roubles went where? I do not know.

New uniform for army... results? I haven't searched for the amount of money spent, but common feeling is that it is too cold for the climate. <sarcasm>Getting ready for global warming?</sarcasm>

That is from the top of the head, there are many more.

Looked up the news, yes, they tell that it was possible to bypass security screening.

I do not know what would help. Terrorists like hackers need to find only one hole in security. Goverment, like sysadmins have to close them all. And the more security, the less convenience. If it would work on reactions, and without thinking - like starting to check shoes, only after first bomb in shoe, government automatically loses.

IMO, the problem is deeper and should be solved differently. But solving the terrorist problem would close a big "feeder" for all involved.

Like it was said in one blog about earlier events: "I am glad that subsets of terrorists and engineers do not intersect. Our civilization is a fragile thing."

PS. PM was at 1am in the morning. At that time I usually sleep.

Since Putin wants to punish those responsible, tell me what is going to do to the perp that splattered himself all over the walls and floor? Just another typical government blowhard who sounds tuff but does nothing.

Russian style is to take it out on innocents.

Such as common Chechnyan persons in Chechnya.

Moi

Can we truly expect Russians not to act like Russians.

Whether under the Czar, Soviets or Putin.

Exactly what kind of security screening would have stopped this?

Last I heard, the guy walked in off the street to a baggage claim area, and detonated the bomb there. That's outside of essentially all the security at every airport I've ever been to. Short of having a security checkpoint a mile away from the airport that everyone has to go through, how exactly could you stop this from happening elsewhere?

(And even if you do... how do you stop people from bombing that checkpoint?)
