Christina, a sure bet for you would be Dr. Barham at Providence Healthcare in Portland OR. He charged $750 last time I heard, but he may be up to $1000 by now. Last I heard, he requires that you be on estrogen for 6 mo or so, and have a letter from a therapist recommending an orchie.

Re: FYI Update: Finding a doctor for castration
Hi all,
Just a note to add to my recent search to find a local doctor to perform an orchechtomy. I just returned from my GP today and had ask if he had any information about finding a local urologist. Again, no luck today. I was waiting to see him before I made any plans on my own. It seems I will have three choices now, 1: start calling all urologist's in my area, make an appointment and ask or 2: call Dr Kimmel in Philly or Dr Barham in Portland and set up an appoinment with either of them or 3: wait until I have the funds to get the SRS surgery.
I am leaning more and more towards option number 3. As many here already know, being on an anti-androgen has reduced my labido to a point were I no longer have that strong desire for castration anytime soon. I am willing to wait as long as I know I could afford the SRS surgery, if not, then a trip to the urologist will be in order, possiblly as soon as the middle of 2003.
Love and Hugs

Re: FYI Update: Finding a doctor for castration
I was thinking of you the other night when i was watching one of the tv showes .Thay had a story on gender changes it was done in Tiland .I thought it was interesting that in Tiland a person dose not have to go to all the troble that people in other contries have to go through. Thay just go to the doctor and tell them how thay feel and what thay want and thay usualy get the surgery.Iam glad the anti- androgen is working for you i know how i feel without all that testosterone in wy system and if you feel as good as i do than your life has to be mutch better .Any way hears thinking of you and may GOD bless you.
