Re: permanent home hair removal?
iv always been lucky when it comes to body hair to begin with. my legs have a little hair but its not thick and corse. the only real concentration is on my shins. legs would still be time consuming but are one of my last priorities as they can be shaven from the knee down even with my sensative skin. above the knee begins to cause irritation. my chest on the other hand has like 10 hairs around each nipple and like 10 hairs total spread over the middle of my chest. my arms are virtually hairless ( most women even find it freaky ). i could get a massive benefit here from little effort because of this. the only real challenges would be my pubic area ( still not that bad ) and my face. funny thing about my face is i could never grow a beard even if i tried ( not that id want to ) and with a few exceptions the hair is almost blond. i usually leave just a little above my lip and on my chin. but if i shave that off it takes weeks to fully return. id probably do the sides of my face but leave the lip and chin stuff so i could still pass as a man at work for the time being. its kinda funny.....even the natural state of my body hair is contradictory to manliness.

You should be aware that laser hair removal works best on individuals with light skin and dark hair. Blond hair fails to absorb as much light and fry as completely as dark hair, and dark skin will absorb too much light (and convert it to heat causing burning). Dark skinned people have been severely burned and disfigured by incompetent laser operators. In some communities they are regulated, but in others areas, the Republican philosophy is in play and you are at the mercy of quacks and amateurs out to make a fast (if not dishonest) buck at the public expense. Before you submit to laser or electrolysis check the operator's credentials thoroughly. Until then, professional waxing is probably a good option. I used to shave my legs (and other parts) for swimming and then went to a spa/hair salon where they did waxing. If you're a masochist it's kind of fun
. Seriously they were thorough and a lot quicker than home shaving, and not too expensive. Try it.

I'm back to just shaving myself :/ Eventually I want to get the money together to get laser done tho a more permanent solution.
The nice thing about waxing/sugaring/epilating/threading is that it becomes less painful the longer you keep the routine up; and the longer you keep it up, the slower the hair grows back.

i know this is a vague question and it will depend on hair density of any particular area but can anyone put a ballpark figure on time and cost associated with both professional laser treatments and professional electrolosys for particular parts of the body?

It also depends on the skill of the electrologist and the modality (method of electrolysis) they are using. If you haven't yet visited the HairTell.com site to review other people's experiences, photographs, and the comments of experienced laser and electrolysis professionals, you really should. Look up quotes by James Walker, Dee Fahey, LAgirl, and other major contributors. Using pico-flash thermolysis, the most talented electrologists can remove more than ten hairs per minute.

I agree that the home products promise a whole bunch more than they deliver. There is one device that actually works as promised, I am told, but it covers about 1/4 square inch at a time. That means it would require years to do a whole body removal.
Now our two oldest daughters are permanently "bare down there". The eldest had it done by electrolysis as the laser procedure was not in use then. The second oldest and her teen aged daughter both had it done with lasers. All three are happy with the result. Fortunately, husbands (and father) have the income to allow them to pay for these relatively expensive procedures.

Re: permanent home hair removal?
I want a hairless body and most of all I want a hairless crotch. After years of shaving I wanted my body hair and most of all my pubic hair to be permanent removed. While I was at that time to shy to visit a beauty parlour and also hardly couldn't effort such a treatment, like BernadetteTS, I ordered a One Touch Iverness home kit to do the job myself. Like BernadetteTS says it took a lot of time to have any result and as a left-handed the left side of my pubic hair was easier to do than the right side, I suppose this will be the same with a beard. Beside that the needle I had to insert in the follicle got bent and was much more difficult to use. After some weeks I had a square inch of complete smooth skin above the left side of my penis. Then I had a period that had a little more money and found a male professional to do the electrolysis, but most of the hair he had removed grew back. The result of my own job with the On Touch Inverness was much better than his so called professional job. Than I found a young man who was a professional waxer, who waxed my whole body. This felt great and smooth, he also used a special lotion to reduce the regrowth of the hair. The pain of waxing differs from person to person. For me it was hardly hurting. After a while this guy changed his profession and took another job. Now I waxed myself and got a tip of a friend, also a client of this guy, to use Kalo lotion and spray to reduce the regrowth of the hair. This realy works, my pubic hait is now about 10% of what it used to be, but takes also a lot of time and it is difficult to do my whole body. The best result is still what I did with the On touch electrolysis. Now I consider to try laser for my body and maybe On Touch just for my pubic hair again. Kalo pretends also to work on beards.

I started needing to go every three months & now I only need to go every five.
Waxing is not that painfull, once you get used to it!
Remember the Romans did it by plucking but then they had their own personal slave just for that task.
Ask Julius Ceaser:D
I suppose I'm lucky, but I do get to pluck my face hairs like the Romans. -A few extra minutes on weekend mornings with a magnifying mirror and tweezers and then I'm off and about.
