Another excellent 'Simon' story
Thanks
As an aside - I was brought up in Budleigh Salterton - went on that bus every day to Exeter to school ( 14 miles, took about 1 hour). And I remember when there was a station ( even went on the last train in late 1960's)

Re: SIMON AND THE UNKNOWN QUANTITTY by C van D
Thank you, Bella, for your kind remarks. At least I seem to have got SOMETHING right. (By the way, the typographical error "Quantitty" is serendipitous, after the episode on p.3 or thereabouts, when Melanie takes her bra off.
I suppose the germ of the idea of the parallel universe where Southdown Hall School exists, started with listening to my mother. Her year of birth was 1903, at which date boy-eunuchs may have been commonplace in some parts of the world. At any rate she always spoke to me - aged I suppose about 9 - 10, as if it was quite normal for a boy - even myself - to get his balls "nipped out" (her usual expression). "And" she would say "You'd always be a plump little boy, your voice will never change, and you won't be able to get married or have children". The notion that boys run to fat after castration seems to be an evergreen.

Re: SIMON AND THE UNKNOWN QUANTITTY by C van D
Thanks again, C van D!
Proof once more that the Simon saga is certainly not over. I really enjoy how you tend to harken back to older pieces, and bring back characters; nice continuity, there. The introduction of Benjie was a treat for me, with both his description and his name being the same as a friend of mine way-back-when; pure luck, but neat to read.
Thank you very, very much for taking the time and effort to entertain us again, especially such a LONG one! Intelligently written, and fun to read... we can't ask for more.
Kudos!

Dear Coyan Hyde
Thank you for your enquiry, but the DVD scene is a figment of my imagination, inspired, I must confess, by your master-touch in "Five Boys", where two boys are neutered in their parents' back yard. Imitation, they do say, is the sincerest form of flattery.

Finally got it printed out, going to read it later in case of power failure!
