It seems the thinkers in Astronomy are thinking it over.

Who pays for all this, thinking?

If not a "planet" because we were all taught it was or that it made it in under the wire before some got picky picky picky; then how about Earth and Pluto hold a special title of "binary planet system" meaning their moons are of significant mass compared to the, "planet".

Eris is more massive than Pluto and it is further from the Sun (about three times as far).

Nope, apparently they re-evaluated the situation. Eris is down and second in mass to, <ta-da> Pluto, not as includes Charon.

You know they will fight about this for the next 100 years and in the end it makes no difference, Pluto will still be a small rock way out there beyond and if its a planet or not will not make one difference to Pluto.

sounds to me people are just arguing over pedantics really.

astronomy should be about more than "is pluto big enough to be a planet".

that kinda shit is the preserve of bureaucrats, not astronomists.

Astronomy should be about the things like last monday, when they found the youngest black hole ever and aren't even quite sure if its a black hole, and are trying to find out.
