Do synthetic estrogens like estroven work?

Estroven would not be considered a synthetic estrogen, but an herbal estrogen-like product. You'd be worlds better off with a real estrogen, and not soy and black cohosh crap.

Herbal estrogen is a waste of time and money, your better to get real hormones for what your looking for!

I'm a M2F in the early stages of transition. I just started HRT, estrodial and spirolactone. For about a year I choose to do Estrovan as a prep for starting estrogen (?spelling). I like to think that it did help to prepare my system for the feminine hormones. I did not have any problems in the year or so that I took it. I did notice that my libido was somewhat lowered. That might have been my age too. As for using Estrovan for achieving secondary characteristics I don't see where it did any good.

I tried herbals for a couple of years and feel like I just wasted time and money. Used estrogen and changed quickely with no side effects that I have noticed, besides ones I wanted.
