Woman sets husbands penis alight to stop him cheating, court told
By Jordanna Schriever From:AdelaideNow September 28, 2010
RAJINI Narayan loved her husband Satish so much that she believed setting fire to his penis would stop him from cheating, a court has heard.
Planning to confront her husband, Narayan instead "snapped", dousing her husband's back in petrol before setting him alight.
The 46-year-old has pleaded not guilty to murdering her husband at the couple's Unley home, near Adelaide, in the early hours of December 7, 2008.
Mr Narayan, an engineer who designed ships for the Australian navy, suffered burns to more than 75 per cent of his body and died in the Royal Adelaide Hospital days later.
Yesterday, the South Australian Supreme Court heard the jealous wife had discovered her husband's affair then set fire to him and the family's home.
In defence of Narayan, Lindy Powell, QC, told the jury Narayan confronted her husband, who was lying in the couple's bed, shortly after he gave her his email password and she found emails detailing the affair.

"She said: You say you loved her. I'm going to burn your penis. I'm going to tell your family what you have done," Ms Powell said.
She said the words were "spoken from Narayan's heart" because of a "genuine, if wildly misguided" belief she would keep her husband.
"He rolled away from her, turning his back on her. He said: `No you won't, you fat, dumb bitch'."
"In that split second in that highly emotional state, Narayan threw the petrol on her husband.
"In that split second, she had lost control ... She was so overcome she simply lost her power to think and react rationally.
Ms Powell told the jury Narayan felt immediately remorseful and tried to save her husband of 24 years, and the couple's three children, who were also in the house at the time.
She told the court Narayan's husband had subjected his wife to years of physical and emotional abuse.
Tim Preston, prosecuting, told the court Narayan had admitted her guilt to neighbours.
"The accused told (one neighbour) that she had started the fire that she found out her husband was having an affair," he said.
"She told (the neighbour) that she wanted to burn her husband's penis."
Mr Preston said she had told another neighbour: "I did it, it wasn't an accident".
He said police searched her handbag and found printed emails in which her husband declared his love for the other woman and a credit card addressed to the woman, providing motive.
He said Narayan had told a tarot card reader, who she had visited just days before the attack on her husband, that her husband would not let her reduce her working hours because she was paying for the other woman.
The trial is continuing.

She should had cut the penis off while her husband is asleep, pour petrol on it then set it alight. That way her husband would probably survive and conscience enough to see his penis turning into charcoal.

Why not put it on a spit over a charcoal barbie?

Woman trashes husband's member
PETCHABOON: -- A woman in the northern province Phetchaboon was arrested last month for cutting off her husbands penis and throwing it into a trash can at the local bus station.
Buariow Wannarat, 54, was caught at a police checkpoint while on a bus to Bangkok. Police escorted her back to Phetchaboon Town to point out the trash receptacle where she discarded her mans member.
Meanwhile, her husband, 40-year-old Sawang Wannarat, was taken to Lom Sak Hospital, where he was last reported as being in a stable condition.
Mrs Buariow told police that she had been married for 21 years: when she was 33 and Mr Sawang was a sprightly 19.
Recently, however, Mr Sawang started to treat her very badly, drinking heavily and shouting at her in public, she said. There was also gossip going around town that he was seeing other women.
On September 14, Mrs Buariow was drinking beer with friends near her house when Mr Sawang walked up and began shouting at her that she was cheating on him.
He said he was going to leave her and made her prostrate herself at his feet.
Around 10am the next day, Mrs Buariow was still enraged by the loss of face. While out buying her husbands breakfast, she stopped off at the pharmacy to get some sleeping pills.
She mixed some of the pills in Mr Sawangs morning drink, gave it to him and waited for them to take effect.
While Mr Sawang was sound asleep, Mrs Buariow sliced off his penis and put it in a plastic bag. She then took a bus from their house in Lom Sak to Phetchaboon Town Bus Station, where she threw the organ in a trash can before boarding a bus to Bangkok.
She was stopped by police in Nong Phai District, which borders Muang District to the south.
After making Mrs Buariow tell them where she threw the penis, police sent the organ to Lom Sak Hospital so doctors could try and reattach it.
At the time of writing it was still unclear whether Mr Sawang would regain any use of his severed manhood.
Thai doctors are world-renowned for the expertise in reattaching severed penises.
Knowing this, some of those responsible for the cutting have taken extra precautions to make such surgery impossible. Severed members have been boiled, fed to ducks or even attached to hot air balloons in the past.
