The remnants of Beryl passed through here the other day. We only got about 1" of rain here, as our area was on the edge of the system's track. We really needed it, too. Worst garden year I've had, ever, I think. Watering with the sprinkler just isn't the same as rain. It was so cool and wet for long late that the plants just aren't thriving. Looks like the pepper crop is going to fail, except for the ones in large pots started indoors early.
We went from overnight lows in the 40's in June to heat index of 100F+ in about 6 days, too. That didn't help them. Then the rain quit, as seems to be the trend around here. The crops sprout up, after being planted late, then the rain stops.
Beryl brought us some relief, but it's been in the 90's most days, with the "air you can wear" and muggy nights. If you stand still long enough, mildew starts growing on you! Of course, with Beryl gone now, it's heating up again. I hate to run the AC, but oh well...
This time last year, we were just recovering from 4 days in a row of severe storms, starting with a derecho on the first day with winds over 80 mph. Power was out for some folks for up to 8 days. Mine was out for 5.

Ugh... in this part of Europe today was... I think high was +41°C, and next week forecast highs average at +37°C or so...
Re: There's Always The Weather
41C = 105.8F! Dang, that's hot! Haven't seen a thing about this in the news feeds?

That isn't too uncommon, but usually it isn't that hot here 35-36°C is common, though. Remember - this is daily high. Night temperature is around 26-28°C
And here goes the news:

In that temperature I live vampire lifestyle - get out in the evening, when it starts to cool down. Or move from shade to shade

Do be careful in heat like that! I guess one good thing about being so cold-natured is I don't wilt until the heat index breaks 99F/37.2C!
Then again, it used to just kill Riverwind back in the day that I didn't take my hoodie off until it was 80F/26.67C.

A light headdress, such as a straw hat, helps combat the heat.

I hear from River a couple of time per month. He's still happily living on the Big Island. He and his son are now operating an organic farm.

I can't imagine temps like that. We're in another heatwave (third this year, which is unusual by this point) and that just means humidex over 36, night temps above 18 (Celsius). Course all I have are fans to keep cool, not AC or anything. I guess if I was somewhere that regularly got worse I'd have AC or something but still. Not fond of the heat.

May Gray & June Gloom remain along the coast
and it's now July 17.
A few miles inland and it is hot, Hot, HOT.
