Too bad, those who said so do not know the pleasure of country skying. But not in very cold wheater of course.

For the last week of very low temperature in Montréal I had the chance of being on vacation in Madeira for 10 days. So I missed the real arsh winter time. Now that we're back, it looks like March. Weather is largely disturbed, go figure.

Madeira is nice as it seams like spring all year round. I was funny to be at 16-18 degree Celsius with sunny warmer feeling and a day under the sun for deep sea fishing on a calm sea.

For those who what to escape winter with sea side sport and mountain hicking it's a very nice place to go. But quite "fresh" for beaching in our north american standards.

We had predictions of major, major winter storm with really significant snow accumulation. Everything was abuzz about winter driving and closures. Granted last night we had winds cranking in the 50-60 mph range. Woke up this morning with ½-1 inch of windblown snow on the roads. Oh the horror! Oh the humanity!

We've been getting predictions for several days now of snowfall of 25-27" over the course of 3 days. We are about to enter day 3. In Minneapolis we have received about 4 inches of snow, but we keep getting warnings about tonight and tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it. I really don't expect much. Southern Minnesota though is getting quite a bit, but not 25 inches.

I survived the Halloween blizzard of '91 with about 28 inches of snow -- I drove a van through that all night long, and came out OK. I can't drive like that anymore (not physically able), so I won't give it a try.

Here's wishing for a nice vacation somewhere like Hawaii.

It was a windy 68F here in southern Indiana today, with some rain. About the same for tomorrow, but then dropping into the 20's tomorrow night.

I can
finally one up you. Survived the blizzard of '66. Left LA during storm with first snowfall in Long Beach since 30s. Heading for a field trip on Little Colorado River (triumph of academic drive over common sense). Made it from Prescott to Flagstaff following a snow plow, then 2 days snowed in at university. 66" snow.

Time now to hear from our Maine or Canadian friends.

25 inches, That's absolutely HUGE... :dong: Amounts of snow.

Kidding aside, the storm seems to be slow and delayed, it's over Northern California at the moment, where they're expecting more snow than they've seen in a decade where my mother lives. Granted, that would be anything over about 6", but it's been some time for them, when they normally get 3-4 storms a year with about 2" of snow, rain the rest of the time.

Closer to the coast and at a lot lower elevation than LT's mother, we're about to move from "false spring" to "very winter" here. All the trees are in bloom with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. The yard is filled with flowers in bloom, and the weather-guessers are warning that Friday may have the heaviest snowfall since 1976! Very strange....

The Pole Shift is coming.

Who's got "meteor storms" on their Apocalypse Bingo Card?

I also predict Cat-6 hurricanes, magnitude 12 earthquakes, and EF-7 tornadoes.

Get away from Wisconsin, it's gonna be the new South Pole.

😄😄😄😄😄

In other news, it's 80F here in Virginia today, or about 27C. I'm not looking forward to the stuff out west moving to the east, and for the 3rd week in a row, being gorgeous when I have to work inside, and crappy when I can get outside on the weekend (cold and often wet, as opposed to warm and dry during the week). This is getting old.

Mother nature can be a true bitch at times.
