Better than usual dry "heat" and wind off the deserts.

Our monsoon has started and we have had a few zinger days, but it hasn't reallly cranked like last year. Still, we get those south Pacific skies that I love.

The heat index yesterday at 99F, so they claimed. My thermometers read higher than the official reporting stations. Then the storm front came through, and the temperature fell 30 degrees F. Of course, we couldn't have a nice, soft rain. No. We had to have all the drama that usually goes with it: thunder, wind, lightning, hail in some places, and lightning striking somewhere near me. Jumped so hard I pulled an abdominal muscle, on top of the sinus headache the front brought on. All that for about 1.5" of rain.

Good news is that it's rain gently here all day long, for a change! The trees were beginning to droop. These passing .1" showers just weren't getting it. We hadn't had a real rain since early June.

This coming week, however, is forecast to be hot across most of the midsection of the whole globe, I'm reading.

Get ready!

Spending my first summer in Ohio, and it has been surprisingly pleasant, not too hot at all, but we have a lakefront property on Lake Erie, and there is usually a cool breeze off the lake.

High 90s to 100 degrees here yesterday and today. My air conditioner keeps over heating and shutting down. Have to unplug it and let it cool down a bit before I can restart it. Managing to keep the inside temperature at about 78-80 F - better than 102 outside.

After a rainy weekend, with nearly 2" in some areas here, we've gone back into heat. Indexes are expected over 100F again tomorrow.
