Not one Spring warmth above 70F,

for long if at all.

Always above 50F

Rain appears on the forecast now and then

but, without precipitation.

Rabbits seem the new normal and squirrels as usual

Loquats produced another bounty

but, the apricots are scarce.

It seems peach & plum blossoms are not happening.

Boysenberries with lots of larger than usual flowers.

Hey. There is a week in northern Nevada when the snow melts and the mud/silt is just saturated. The only reason you leave town is to get stuck. My worst was I got stuck. Guy came over to pull me out an he got stuck. Cat came over to pull us out and it got stuck. Hours later the second Cat finally got alll of us out. Got home at 1 AM. Is offroad Maine like that during spring thaw?

Mud Season is a bust.I think we mite be having a drought a gene. I haven't had much opportunity in Maine to do any off roading. I drive Ford E350s &T350 Vans special order to deal with this. (not 4 wheel drive)

April here began with a high of 45 and low of 19 on the 1st. We've had the usual spring rain. Highs have ranged from 50F to 70, and the local news certified one day so far that hit 80. On the 20th and 21st, we had an overnight freeze of around 30, with snow up to 3" last Tuesday.

The cold nights have certainly put a serious dent in the morel mushroom hunting season. I know several other species of edibles, however, so I have no competition in that area. As far as food foraging, other than deer season, mushroom (morel) season here is the other big one. It only lasts about 4 weeks maximum, as the prize fungi are very temperamental about where and when they grow. Luckily, a mycelium has formed up under the old apple and cherry trees in my yard, and I've harvested about two dozen morels from there, where I've been clearing the property line out. The next project is mowing down some of the ground cover that is taking over, Myrtle Periwinkle/Vinca - Hardy ground cover that doesn't even die in winter.

Surprisingly, the weather is forecast to be cooperative for the start of baseball season on Monday, and league photos, but the head count is way down. Usually, when the season kicks off, the weather goes right back to winter!

Summer has been sneaking in. During a time when one can get unexpected cold, even snow, we've been getting 60s and 70s, though it is supposed to fall back to the 50s, possibly 40s later this week. It will be good for passengers in my Lyft car for Cinco do Mayo tomorrow.

It was 71F here near midnight, by noon it was 59 and raining. We've had a whole batch of kids for sports photos rained out twice now. Lows near 40, so they say. Out in the country, expect lower. I've done a bit of garden planting, but most of the seedlings are still too small to harden off. I did buy a few nursery plants, but with Bonnie wanting $3.49 per plant, forget it! I still don't trust it. Last year, we had an unexpected hard freeze at the start of the last week of May. Tomorrow is to be 62 and sun, so we'll see.

all over the chart. Yesterday was 88°F, 7% humidity, and winds of 30 mph, with gusts to 40. Today was 82°F and calm. Tomorrow is supposed to be somewhere in the low to mid 70s and dropping for a couple of days into the 60s before jumping up again to about 90°. Nights are still cold enough that I need a jacket when I walk out to get the morning paper.

That area of warmer than usual ocean off the California - & Oregon coasts.

It keeps those water laden storms from Alaska in Canada

while we experience less water heavy storms from the south.

May Gray season here. :-\

was cheerful. The flowers were abundant & larger than usual.

I'm spending time in central Oregon in the "high desert" near Bend. Day temperatures can sometimes hit 80 while the night temperatures can drop as low as 22, but I came here to get away from the rain over on the coast, and the scenery, as much as I like the coast, is a nice change: mountains, woods, and lakes. Lots of open land with few people.
