-2°C. Ice rain. And lots of ice. No sand or salt in sight, at least during the day. "Cow on ice" was the only thing that comes to mind....

What happened to those Sovietsky Salt Mines?

Clear blue sky and colder.

Low to mid 40's at night.

Sweet Shelling Peas about 3" long and green with health

Nothing happened to salt mines. But many things happened to soviet labor. Getting good street cleaners is hard. Cleaning the snow from sidewalks - if tractor does not fit there - nope, it will not be cleaned. And so on.

Actually - hate salt on the roads and sidewalks. First it is used excessively (when used), then it dries up in spring. End result - lots of pretty corrosive dust (in spring), shoe damage and all that. Oh, and that shit stays liquid even at -5 to -10. Which ends up as slush on the sidewalks. And result is still slippery and bumpy mess.

Sand (good sand) is better for traction.

You just can't get that Sovietsky gulag labor anymore.

No squads of babushkas cleaning the sidewalks in front of their homes?

Weather, clear, crisp, sunny

As the days get longer sunset is now 5:00 PM

I will miss those long, dark nights

Seems like Summer nights don't get as dark.

The peas are about 4" and standing straight. requiring no support.

Usually they fall over and I tie them up.

Every year I save some from the previous year for seed.

Foggy morning clearing around 11 AM.

No rain :(

I bet yours is more weatherful than mine

The cats sleep.

We were having a January so sunny and warm it was scary. Some afternoons didn't even need a jacket much. Now several days of overcast, spitting rain / snow and even biting cold. Might as well go visit Ernie.

How good can they be when my last 3 rain storms

where diverted by the Canadian Polar Vortex

making the southwest warm & sunny while more Eastern folks are

experiencing record snow storms

Anyone hear from @Dave lately?
