Yesterday (Monday the 30th) the high temperature was 6am at 60F and the temperature fell all day down to 35F or near freezing.

Today, it's been cold and now in the afternoon there was a sudden burst of teeny-tiny snowflakes that left the ground wet. The "snow" didn't even lay on the trees or the already frozen parts of the ground.

The result is that it will be damp (and cold) all night for those going out to celebrate New Years.

Ugly damp and cold.

(I'm staying in my warm house and bed)

The rain just doesn't make it down here.

Another precipitation event gone dry. But, there is the fresh, 50F wind

off the ocean. The sky has been cloudful with a variety of types all day

Sunset is now after 5PM.

I sure enjoy that early "darkness".

Sunset will advance to a few minutes after 8PM over the next 5+ months.

We are at the beginning of a major snow event. Within a couple of hours we will start to get between 8-12 inches of snow, very cold, very windy. Predicted to last from about noon today til tomorrow AM. Should be getting some sizable snow drifts, and temperatures in the 0-10 F range, with a few more days of that stuff. Walking with crutches helps to ensure that I have hired someone to do the snow blowing. Need a good book or three to get through this crap.

How DO YOU SUPPOSE your "north of the 49th" weather became local?

Meanwhile the rains do fill my reservoirs but barely makes it down to "the O.C."

In the summer I shrug and say it is a dry heat. We were supposed to have rain/snow at the tail end of this week, but I guess it was dry rain/snow.

Going down to 11F here tonight, and high of 18F tomorrow. We missed the worst of the system yesterday, with only some sleet and rain. It stayed warm enough to avoid icing.

Good weekend to stay inside and learn some new things about Linux, video ripping in Windows, and all that entertaining stuff.

YOU didn't get no precipitation

regardless of form: snow, ice, rain, sleet, etc.?

How dry was it? The virga were inverted with the clouds sucking moisture out of the air. That is how dry it has been.

Virga! Overcast skies with real virga this morning! Supposed to have a shot at real rain/snow next two days, then clearing.
