Is Moi the only one on Board with weather?

Had a series of rain events yielding 2.75" per my at home measurements.

More Wednesday and Thursday.

Seems like each storm brings as much as I might get in a drought year.

It is wonderful and so cloudful between.

Garlic, onions and

sweet shelling peas are sprouting.

Just back from a short work stint in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Chihuahua, Mexico. Days weren't bad and actually broke into a light sweat climbing up really steep hillside once. Nights were cold which meant sitting around a fire after dinner and three blankets, but slept like a log. Took advantage of someone else paying to get there and took the Copper Canyon train (El Chepe). Seemed like cycle was light-moderate rain every third day. Unfortunately, El Chepe was on a rain day, so took away some of the dramatic views.

Online weather says Pittsburgh is in for some alternating rain & snow.

With temperatures that go above and below freezing.

A slushy good time, with hard sheets of ice for slip skating.

Local strawberries have taken a beating.

They were so sweet and aromatic before the rains.

I guess if we want strawberries, they're from Mexico ? ?

More rain tomorrow and Thursday then the w'end, then the middle of next week.

Don't foresee a break for local strawberries.

My white onions are sprouting.

And the Product of China Garlic is doing much better than my American garlic is.

We got another 6 inches of snow last night and today. Got stuck early this AM trying to get up a hill. Took some doing, but I ended up blowing the hose on my power steering. Later I got stuck turning a corner - friend came with a 4x4 1 ton and pulled me out with a big chain. Went home and parked on the street. My snow guy hadn't showed up, so I got out my big snow blower and cleared everything. Went to move the truck, and I was stuck where I was parked. Dug my way out and then got a push. Parked the pig, said to hell with work, and sat back and had a cocktail. we'll see what they get plowed tonight.

A major storm is headed to the eastern half of the country, bringing snow, ice and rain from the Plains to the Northeast to the Southeast.

Been through a series of light rain events with temperatures from the mid high 50's down to the mid 40's at night.

Chill hours for my fruit tree. The Mulberry is the first to show life.

One rain event was hard and heavy for a few hours delivering over 3" to me. Rain glass overflowed.

That was more than official readings around me by 0.25". All total maybe 10" as many rain events were not measurable or like 1/16".

Rather than a front that moves in, sits a while delivering rain, and moving on - these rain events have been "rivers of air" events. When the river is over head you get rain. But the river then moves south or north and one is no longer under the river.

Weather service says it is soon going to classify river events similar to the way tornadoes are classified.

Better way of predicting floods.

We are in an after the rain time now for more than 10 days they say.

The air is chilly and dry as happens when the mountains are covered in snow.

Love the clouds. Forgot how beautiful they can be.

We are expecting 5-9" in the Twin Cities, from about midnight to 6 PM tomorrow. The boss sent around an email this afternoon saying that anyone who sicks out or blows off the job without calling, will likely have their contract terminated. Out of 500 drivers I expect at least 50 absences. We'll see how fun this storm is.

We are getting warnings about The Winter Storm beginning tomorrow. Talk of 1-3 feet of snow.

Last I heard Minneapolis got 9 inches. On top of the 26+ inches we already had in February. Everyone is driving ultra scared/safe, versus the few who are still driving like freaking maniacs. OTOH, I only got stuck once, and three guys shoveled me out. Went home at 230 and got the old 6hp snowblower out - my snow guy hadn't showed up yet. Had to get the DNP out of the driveway. Tonight I am staying inside and enjoying a good bottle of Cabernet.
