While I was away at the MOM, we apparently had more fish-drowning rainstorms, high winds, lightning, all that rot.

I came home to find half my nice redbud tree broken over and on top of the garage, all the potted garden plants (even staked) blown over, stakes ripped out of the ground, limbs down, you name it. It's been real fun cleaning up.

Seems that the moment the eclipse started, while we were waiting at the airport, clouds began to move in and immediately turned into storms. The wind was good enough to have the flying beer can of a plane sitting there rocking on the tarmac waiting for it to let up so the poor guys could load the baggage without soaking them. Then we had to wait half an hour for the storm to blow over, deal with reschedules for landings/takeoffs, and then go around the storm, which, of course, had to be going RIGHT in the direction that we were. Needless to say, the damn storm followed me home and hit here around 5 AM. Just in time to wake up the already-sick beagle, who got up, got a drink, and threw up all over the floor.

I knew I shouldn't have come back...

It is unusually cool and fresh feeling.

Almost like Autumn without the rotting leaves smell.

Gray skies yielding to cloudy skies and a cool breeze off the ocean.

Not that warm, stuffy, tropical ocean breeze we have been experiencing from nearby monsoon seasonal events.

In about a week, it is predicted to be 20F warmer. Native American / Indian Summer or just Summer?

Stay tuned.

The Fava beans have been harvested but, did not yield so good. I learned some lessons I think.

Fuji apples are ripe and the peaches are finished. Asparagus spears appear occasionally.

The corn field produced ears and they grow fatter. Although stunted.

Black kitty, previously old fat black kitty, continues to die at age 19.

Drinks water, gave up eating even kitty gravy 2 days ago. Still uses her box, pees only.

And stinky. Not an identifiable odor like ammonia, just stinks.

Skin and bone, blind, wobbly to walk, she still insists on going outside in the day time and walks around her regular stations. Her water area. Her chair. The warm bricks later in the afternoon.

I believe in hospice for pets.

Moi 🚬 Maybe I should blow some in kitty's face? A good indica.

Hot and humid in the Uintas of Utah. Huge towering thundercells cover half the horizon in the High Uintas.

AARRGGHHHHH It was 114 today. I want rain, snow, sleet, slush high winds or just some cool weather.

When I returned from the MOM, things were pretty moist here Monday night. It had rained. By Wednesday night, with temps around 82F or so as highs, things really dried up fast. The official high today was 83. It sure felt like a lot more, and the ground is dry and hard already. With all the rain we've had, I have to wonder how it all dried out so fast.

No Member from Texas.

Missing Yoli, again.

Hot here but I am in the cool zone by the coast.

The Heat Alert area is on the other side of the 405

:kittygray OFBK for old, fat, black kitty passed away, hospice style. She was 19 or 20.

I was her fifth human in the neighborhood.

A very sweet and confident cat I was aware of her as she moved from home to home.

Before me she was with an elderly lady who passed away.

OFBK was a great rat catcher and I called her in at night.

In the house, or the garden, I look at areas she would usually be and have to remember she won't be there.

I will miss her very much. Since the 🐈 brothers passed away 8 months apart at age 17,

I am without a cat.

An odd feeling.

Moi 🚬 but it doesn't help.

Might take you up on that.

Adopting a cat from a rescue shelter is a hassle.

They want to evaluate your worthiness.

No more ads, "Free Kittens" in the paper.

:(

Hot, humidly hot with thunder storms nearby but not on Moi.

Funny how an animal weaves into your life so much that you are left really empty when they die.
