And do they call them Uppers?

(Sorry about the fixation [not that fixations are bad], but I have some Upper Peninsula in the woodpile)

I had an inch of snow this morning. However, the rest of the weekend until Tuesday or Wednesday will be very cold.

Isn't anyone on Board suffering the Five State Weather Emergency?

Share your pain. ;)

The night has the smell of rain although none is expected.

The onions are growing well. So are the potatoes.

Pass the lotus <yawn>

We had another wind storm last Saturday, knocked out the power all day however in other parts of the Puna District there still out of power, the storm also hit the other islands and lots of power lines were down. So what do you do when the power is out all day??? Get in the car and take a drive.

I can sum up the weather in one word: FUCK

I think it's time to build a gigantic Star Trek impulse engine on this planet and trade places with Venus.

That or put me in suspended animation until our sun becomes a red giant.

Not one of those windstorms like I saw in the movie, Hawaii with Max von Sydow when the Queen dies.

Was it one of those? ? Do tell. Or just a Hawai'ian Wind.

BTW where do you drive? To see what's on the other side of the island 😄 or more like a chicken quandary. 🙄

So How Do YOU know when the power is off anyways? Being off the grid and all.

Try not to eat so much fish, it's hard on the kidneys. More chicken, lamb/goat or pig. (really)

I imagine if I were there, I would try my garden, chickens for eggs and meat - but I would sell the live meat

and goats for milk.

I hope your wind has settled down. Maybe it is all that fish and uncooked fiber stuff. It would on Moi.

Here the weather is pleasant and unmotivating. More lotus?

The desert by the sea. All the advantages of the tropics without the inconvenience. Like bugs.

Its rained once in the last two months. We had to have the water truck come by and fill the tank it was near empty. As for the wind, it was the average 75mph wind for a 24 hour period, enough to do several million dollars damage. We always have a breeze here so very few bugs, ever, none, nada. As for where to drive, yes its an island, a very big island. I am guessing if you started at sun rise and drove all day you could make it around the island in one day, maybe. I took a trip from my home to south point and back last Saturday. it was a wonderful drive of about 200 miles round trip, that was just the southern edge of the big island. Over the next few months I will be taking several day trips to see all of this island that I can. my next trip will be up to Kapaau which is the north tip of the island, its about 225 miles one way.

Who said we were off the grid?

Its all about FISH, tonight for dinner Ahi. BTW I only eat fish 2 or 3 times a week which is what is recommended.

Wind chill of -25F tonight. Temperature of -5F or worse.

I wished I lived on Venus.
