The weather is kinda boring, its 84 every day cools off to 70 at night, last week it got down to 66 and my roommate put on a hoodie and sweat pants, he was cold. I have seen people with parka's on when it gets below 70.

Anyway, today is a clear blue sky day, 84deg, perfect weather to go down to the ocean and sit on the cliff and watch whales. Just make sure you take a hat and put on sun screen.

PS I don't miss the fucken snow or the cold, neither does Nelly.

A really lovely Winter with some occasional moisture laden skies producing spectacular sunsets.

The rain, such as it has been has mostly fallen in the best manner. Slowly over days rather than the same amount coming down in minutes and just running off.

The Loquat trees have green fruits, some are turning.

Sweet and Yellow onions are sprouting.

Home Depot is selling "combination trees" for some $25, they use to be called "fruit salad trees".

I bought a pear tree with 4 types grafted on one trunk.

In the drought years, the barometer hardly ever went above 30.00

This year it is back to normal hovering around 30.00. Going up for Santa Ana winds and down for possible rain.

Very Interesting. Now and then I calibrate it to the official Newport Beach Barometer reading.

While 6 Asparagus remain dormant, one keeps putting out spears. Yummy, tender, and sweet.

Asparagus are really trippy.

Our garden is still in the starting blocks as it were but my neighbor who has been here for 10 years has quite a garden, last week she gave us a cucumber, some green beans, tomatoes, several herbs and some squash. Its great having a growing season the is year round as apposed to what I left which was sometimes 1 growing season.

It rained hard all night, the catchment tank is almost full again, and everything is green again, its a wonder how fast the brown turns green with a little rain.

Today I will harvest the bananas, then take the machete and chop it down about half way down the stock, that way it will produce another stock for more bananas. Here in Hawai'i we grow a small banana, the only get about 4 inches long and are a bit on the tart/sweet side, yummy in cereal in the morning.

Oh c'mon WinterFolks.

Share.

The CBS news claims a total of 16' of snow has fallen this year in the

E.A.:hearthrobLand and no one is sharing the glories of it all.

Today was such a soft, barely warm day that I had extra coffee to avoid taking a nap.

I planted some garlic and bought a combination plum tree at Home Depot with 4 kinds of plums.

Hey, for $25 - y'can't go wrong.

Currently I have more plant material than I have places to plant, not counting seeds.

I am getting into "experiments", see what works.

It's winter. We get snow.

Tomorrow the GROUNDHOG will poke its head out in Punxsutawney PA.

Bodies and Brains and livers have been pickled all week. They have held the Groundhog Ball (fancy dress, I guess) and tomorrow, they will drink more and yank a poor defenseless groundhog from a hole in the ground and it will pronounce the weather for the next six weeks.

I think shortly after March 1st - hares and other woodland creatures will be mating. . .

{Added} So will groundhogs.

I had to fire up my sunlight blower to get the car out. Neighbors did also. Saw guys clearing with sunlight shovels and a couple of guys running around store parking lots with sunlight plows on the front of their 4X4s. We piled it up so high that - did you know sunlight and stuff flows downhill - it surged down the mountains north to Sedona and south to Glendale, AZ and made for Chamber of Commerce views on the Super Bowl.

The whole central Midwest got dumped on big time. It started Saturday afternoon and didn't stop until well after midnight last night. We're around the IL/WI border just west of I 94. Reported accumulation 14/15". Big drifts from winds up to 40 mph. The talking heads say this storm ranks #7 since they started keeping track. It's over the wheels of my PU truck in the driveway. Can't open the rear storm door, drifted up to the handle. Going to be a long day. If you're not busy, bring a shovel and c'mon over. Lunch and beer are on me!

That's what I thought.

I guess I am confused about the location of the EA:hearthrobLand. Or maybe Minnesota ain't the MidWest?

Here, the "air" remains soft and cozy.

I finally figured that "soft" effect is filtering high clouds and light fog effect. So cozy. Uninspiring. Land of the Lotus Eaters.

Yet, I still managed to hire one of my Mexicans to plant a 4 in one combination Plum tree I bought at Home Depot.

It is near the 4 in one Pear tree he planted last week. Amazing how available these trees have become and for some $25.

and cost major bucks.

I have nine Asparagus root starters that need a home and the onions are sprouting miraculously.

I think I'm a gonna plant some corn or more sweet shelling peas.

It is a really nice season this early February.

Not harsh and dry like the drought years.

Northern California reservoirs will continue to fill this week securing Moi's imported water.

Why would anyone chose anywhere but, The Desert By The Sea. Less buggy than humid areas too.
