There is a new typhoon aiming at Manilla and Tacloban in the Philippines - Hagaput

If the forecast holds (which is really an "if" because Hagaput is erratic) then the typhoon will follow the same path as Haiyan.

If you recall, Haiyan brought the Polar Vortex over the USA when it travelled north.

So I would pay attention to this storm and see where it goes.

Like Pele, never be unprepared for Mother Nature's surprises.

One polar vortex bringing misery to the EA:hearthrobLand and points east is fine.

It is the set up of 3 polar vortexes along the Canadian border that is bad news.

This seems to be a mono polar vortex winter.

More rain coming at the end of next week, fershur, they say.

This is our typical California rainy season with storms coming every week to ten days.

It so none of the news is, happy, happy, happy news about the rain.

Misery when it don't , misery when it do.

Leaves are pretty well off the trees that are supposed to lose them.

My vegetable boxes have been tilled and refreshed with loam. Real loam. Great stuff.

A great day to walk along Huntington Beach shoreline at sunset, where the Santa Ana river flows into the ocean.

The last couple days have been for the most part rain free, its beautiful outside. This morning I was out early looking at the stars and listening to the serf. Yes moi, you can see starts at night here, billions of them.

No problem I wont, its because we don't run our outside lights at night that we can see the night sky, people here are respectful of others that way. The ocean is only a block away and you can hear it most any time. It was sunny again today, that's three days in a row, great for the solar panels that we use for our electricity.

I first grew up in a suburbs with the red glow of steel mill on the horizon. Later I was in a suburban area near a factory and near to Pittsburgh proper.

Then I bought my land and moved into my house in the countryside and when I looked up, above me was the Milky Way.

And let me say, whatever you do, whatever you think is spectacular, get to a dark place without street lights and see the Milky Way. A stream of pale white across a dark sky. . . It is amazing to see and its there, above your head for the price of looking up. . . And with a reasonable telescope (find out if you have an astronomy club near you) go see the planets and various constellations, nebula, and other attractions.

In January and February, I used to drive home and from the inside of my car would see Orion. Above my head glowed the winter hexagon.

Look to the heavens and see the wonders out there.

Try looking down and realize how very big the Earth is.

It has been a wonderful between the rain storms weather.

Usually there would be an episode of desiccating Santa Anna Winds.

These days have been gray to cloudy to a few hours of sun a day.

The next event of Celestial Tears on California is due late Thursday and one following too.

San Francisco is running out of sandbags. So says NBC News.

After all the drought, it really pisses Moi off that there is not rejoicing over the rain.

Coming up late Summer, a bad fire season due to all the growth fostered by these rains. :-\

Today was another beautiful day in paradise. high 70's slight breeze, few clouds. Weather perfect.
