It was 25 deg F last night with a lonely LAKE EFFECT snow that left nothing but a sprinkling at my house and thirty miles away near Greater Pittsburgh Airport a place had 2 inches. That's Lake Effect snow.

Lake Effect snow actually shows on radar as a line running from northwest down to south east and forming and reforming. Rarely more than a half mile or mile wide.

And yes, it is a whole bunch to moisture from Lake Erie -- figure 100 to 130 miles away.

There was lots of ice this morning and tonight thanks to the temperature being so low.

I had to drive lots today to get to a hospital (I'm not sick). It was also windy I felt it on they highway as I drove.

Only danger was the three or four deer within a thousand feet of my driveway.

I started driving back in 1966, so I know how to drive in ice and snow. Only the fools and dumb-jerks have bump and crunch follies in winter. I've actually had my car spinning around in circles and brought it under control without wrecking to damaging the car.

Of course if you've never seen snow like parts of California have never seen snow . . . What are you? Underprivileged?

I remember one winter my dad and I played a round of golf, then took friends up to the top of Mt Jack, (San Jacinto) above Palm Springs, it was a blizzard, had lunch, then back down to Palm Springs, back to my dads place changed then went swimming in an outdoor pool.

Yes we got white solid rain yesterday, some of it is still on the ground.

They're calling for 2-4" of snow here tonight, and the mobs are hitting the stores in panic mode.

All of you with 4WD, just remember - you may be able to go through up to 2' of snow, but it will NOT (sic-owner's manual) help you stop!

The great things about the old Dakota, with no ABS and a manual transmission, was you could slam the brake, lock it all up, and throw it into reverse and floor it for 'backwards' thrust!

Minnesota got heavy wet snow ranging from a couple of inches south to two feet up north. We got about 6 inches here in Minneapolis. Had to use the mongo sized snow blower to move the stuff - wet snow compacts and it gets hard to clean to the pavement - and I have a lot of pavement. Now we are embarking on a 10-14 day cold spell of temps in the low 5-10 below range at night, to 5-10 above days, if that. Paolo, when you going to move up here? We'd love to have you!
