Farmers in this area have begun mowing some fields to use the plants for silage (feed). At this point, even with rain, most of the fields around here are too far gone to yield enough to cover the fuel to harvest it.

They're calling for scattered storms again this weekend, and the projected highs of upper 80's have all turned into near 100F again with high humidity.

If there's no rain this weekend, the garden is going to die. I'm done with watering it every night only to continue to have no production.

Yep, the farmers are starting to plow under this years crops up here too. We finally got a little sprinkle last night and today but you still need to water.

Amazing lightening and thunder here on Vancouver Island right now. Wonderful meaty explosions of sound and light. It is really vibrating the light fixtures. I hope the power doesn't go out.

We don't usually get this kind of thunderstorm. They usually hit the mainland, or go out much further to sea.

I kind-of like it. It reminds me, I still live on a powerful and living planet. I hope we get a big dump of rain too. I don't know why, I just love a thunder shower. It must be from my growing up on the prairies. Back then I used to watch thunderheads roll in. They were crackling with power and light. You could feel them in your chest. I remember counting the seconds from the flash of light until the boom of thunder, then screaming in excitement as the BOOM surprised me anyway.

Thrilling!

I didn't say that about farms for any other reason than drought is drought.

if you are in the areas on the map then you have to make plans on how and when and what crops to grow.

That says nothing about politics but everything about dealing with the weather.

How about Republicans in general sabotaging the weather for the same reason.

If Obama was as good as most here say he is, why isn't it raining in drought areas?

We got one of those thunder storms tonight, I put my dog out and noticed the big light on the poll behind my house was out, I ran right back in and saved the story I was writing, when I got back the light was back on, but both it and my porch light were flickering. The storm has passed for now, and my story is saved for another day. I know what you mean by thunderstorms, they don't get them on the coast like we do here in the planes, not even close.
