The nation is going to have to get into north south water transfer, sort of like the California model .

Russia might consider water to arid areas to their south to promote agribusiness, etc. Better then draining the Aral Sea.

Moi, it will never ever ever happen, you can forget that one because it will never happen. You can talk about it, please don't, but that will never happen.

The reason for this is that each county and state plus Canada protects its water. I know you are looking at the great lakes and thinking a pipe line run it through Kansas on its way south, I can tell you forget it, don't hammer it on this site, hell will freeze, God will come back and make an appearance Pluto will once again be a planet before water will be sent to of all places TEXAS.

Let me say it one more time, don't even go there again.

This is my prediction, and I'm very certain about it. If the US and Canada ever go to war with each other, it won't be over oil, gold, diamonds, uranium, trees, or anything like that. It will be over fresh water.

The Susquehanna River cresting has threatened the beloved Hershey, Pennsylvania. Are the cocoa supplies safe?

If the 100 year flood plain rule had been in effect, how much damage could have been averted. County, State and Fed park and other lands should be set aside for flood plain use as weather requires. No underground storage of dangerous chemicals and such measures. Any homes or structures built to withstand the high water. The Dutch have some that can float if a dike breaks.

In other weather news, San Diego apparently had one of those domino effect grid black outs that shut off the nuc plants too. It wasn't the heat. Just stupidity. The handyman in Arizona made a boo boo y'see and it shut down the whole system. It was restored in 12 and not 24+ hours. I thought that domino effect was fixed after the great black out of the northeast.

Lovely weather here as the heat has gone and the ocean breeze has returned. Had to turn on the house heat a moment.

Thunder, hail and rain - Oh My. Probably 1/2 inch here.

Last night was a loud night and our nights are rarely loud except for occasional rain.

MY television has been repeatedly interrupted with Flash Flood Alerts in the deserts.

I have one small ear of sweet corn left. Generally I have had a fig or three and some fresh, raw, sweet corn these last days. So many grape tomatoes I can't give them away. Well they are pretty to watch rot on the vine and sometimes sprout next year. I can't eat anymore of them.

It's cooled down a lot, but the trees are wilting here.

We've not had a decent rain since the beginning of July here. Lawns have all since turned brown, and the next-to-last section of my front lilac hedge is dead.

It's been so wet and cool that my grass is growing and thickening into a nice green carpet for the first time since the early 1990's
