By the edge of the left coast -

One swimmer is missing in the high surf of the O.C. due to voluntary body boarding with some friends. Some Newport Beach beach parking lots remain closed through the high tide crisis coming so close to Labor Day W'end.

A mile or so inland there are signs of Autumn like the Liquid Amber Trees are turning Autumn colors but, the smell of Autumn is not in the air. I suspect a heluva'n Indian Summer then another wet season like the last couple of years.

Surfer found dead off San Onofre as high waves pound coast

"A surfer was declared dead after he was found in the ocean off San Onofre on Saturday as Southern California beaches continued to experience high surf and dangerous rip currents.

The National Weather Service said

the high-surf advisory will continue through Sunday afternoon, though waves will be smaller than in previous days. . ."

Another senseless death. What to do? Restrict access ala Nanny State? License Surfers? Ignore it?

For all you Irene members and I do not believe we have an active Katrina member, those soggy and growing Mushrooms from last Spring's floods and those thirsty in Texas - California commiserates. We have our own lethal dangers.

Saturday, the bank said 105. The truck said 110 in town, with all the buildings, lots, etc. Humidity wasn't bad.

This morning it was 65. I almost died.

A few days of hot weather and there is a major power outage in the west.

The San Diego Grid that reaches as far as south Orange County, northern Mexico and Arizona, is kaput. Going home crowded arterial roads are barely moving as no stop lights are working. People managing as 4 way stop, very slow.

One report said San Onofre was not nuc-ing up power and two other trunk lines are fried. No fix expected for 24 hours.

I hear there are some usual, same ole, same ole rivers rising floods somewhere around western Pennsylvania and New York. Vague background news from Waterworld back East.

I have decided its time to talk about TEXAS, yes Texas you remember them the state that is on fire, no rain cattle dieing. That area of the country that is far and away the most vocal of the Christian RIGHT. So with all the disasters in this country I am starting to wonder if GOD IS PISSED? I have noted that with every disaster round the world its GOD getting even but with all the disasters around the country from California to Maine, I have noted that most of these Disasters CAUSED BY GOD are in RED states, not all but most. So what are have those right wing bible thumping Christians been doing to get GOD so mad?

The one thing I have not herd is one of these televangelist mouthing off saying all this was caused by GOD like they do on every other disaster round the world. So maybe GOD has nothing to do with it, I KNOW its the DEVIL.

Oh thing here in the mid west northern part is about normal I can only conclude that GOD is not on our side and the DEVIL is not against us because I don't really believe in either.

The real reason all this is going on is because the tea party,,,,,,,,,

no the real reason is that shit happens.

It's not me in Pennsylvania. It starts about Harrisburg and goes east and north into the Altoona and Philadelphia areas.

My brother makes a living outdoors with horses and here were four days over Labor Day that were nothing but rain and bad rain. That was a big weekend lost.

Somewhat north and slightly east of State College there is a huge flea market and large motor and tractor type show. My neighbor loves that stuff and this year, he's skipping it because none of it is paved and with all that rain, your boots might stick in the mud it gets so bad. He rides around in a golf cart and those things just sink into mud and stall out. So that event got washed out.

It's the Susquehanna water basin (Major Flooding. It's three times the water flow of the Mississippi River right now) and the Schuylkill river basins you have to look up to get the news. Think Wilkes Barre where they are pumping water from behind the barriers. West Pittson is being flooded.

The PA flood threat is LEVEL !, the highest since Hurricane Agnes (1972). I remember 1972 because the entire of point state park (when you look at the tourist pictures of Pittsburgh, the large fountain at the point where the Ohio forms from the Allegheny and Monongahela, was covered with water and parts of downtown Pittsburgh were flooded. Three River Stadium (no long there) was an island.

Another area that's getting hit bad is he line from Richmond Va to Norfolk Va.

Sounds fair to me.

The nation is going to have to get into north south water transfer, sort of like the California model .

Russia might consider water to arid areas to their south to promote agribusiness, etc. Better then draining the Aral Sea.
