I always liked the spring. You know, when it first gets warm and things bud out and everything turns green. I fell in love once that time of the year in 1969...

...so far I have stayed there for 42 years...

Riverwind (imported) wrote: Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:59 am Just looked, it would seem we have 4 or 5 new inches this morning and its still snowing :D I love it when it snows, everything is so clean and pure. (it also covers up the dog poop which can not be picked up because its frozen to the ground) Of course come spring there is one day to clean the yard then get the garden ready for planting. :D

You see most people my age that have lived here all there life find this old but this is still new to me, I have never lived in a place that had snow on the ground all winter. I am like a little kid wanting to go play in it. The animals love the snow too, the dog next door loves playing in the snow, jumping diving into it, rolling in it, sticking her head in it and throwing it up in the air.

You see its a state of mind, I love it so for me its not a bad thing, for me its something wonderful. I would as soon have snow as rain, rain is a pain in the ass, but its nice too. I guess I love it so much because I have lived in places that it did not snow or rain, I could never live in a place like that again.

There's something about snowfall that makes me so happy. :) One of the most beautifullest things in the world to me is snowfall. I love to watch it fall. Especially blizzard-force snow! And fat, slow flakes are lovely, too. :D This time of year here in Michigan is just so pretty.

Supposedly there;s going to be a foot of snow here tomorrow. I'm hyped. :)

I have been shown what 2 feet of snow looks like in Minnesota.

Ask Krister... he will send you a picture...

I was watching the radar last night and the weather this morning.

The snow and ice went north of Pittsburgh (allegheny county) and south of Washington PA and route 70 (Washington County)... It has to do with the shape of the rivers and the mountains around them. There is a snow belt from Butler PA up to Eire ot the northand a snow belt from Route 70 south into West Virginia and Morgantown to the south. tricky area to do weather.

Now it is raining here in the middle section and what I hope and think might happen is that as the snow ans ice pass us by.

After -20C just a week ago, we now have +1C with rain. It was supposed to be snow, but probably thawed in flight :). If that continues any longer, we will soon become a real northern Venice, with channels instead of streets. For now in places it is slippery mess and in another places - looots of water.

So, as Moi asked: will our weather stop Napoleon?

I answer: it will. By drowning.

About 1:30am last night, The electric went out and the lack of "stuff" woke me. SO I called the Power Company and they said - 3:30. I have one of those crank-up flashlights and after tossing and turning, I kept it on and couldn't fall asleep. at 3:30 they said 5:30 at 5#0 they said 7:30 at 73:30 they said 10:30 ... The power finally came on about 10:45.

My part of the electric grid travels through a county park and apparently, they had to trace the lines through the park all night and cut away the branches leaning on them. What a thankless job that must be. It rained hard all night. Imagine tracing power lines and cutting branches off them in the rain. And we think proctologists have a bad job?

So I looked outside at about noon - windy, colder and light flurries -- nothing big and bad like north of Pittsburgh (think Butler and north to interstate 80) or east of Pittsburgh (think Ligonier or Uniontown or Johnstown) got hit with. Dodged the bullet again.

It actually hit 50 deg F last night and right now, it's 32F

Schizophrenic weather.
