Hi John,

I'm glad you wrote! I am doing very well, with a minor complication I'll discuss below.

After Erica and I had dinner, I asked her if she'd stop at a store. There were a few items I needed following surgery that had not been noted in the Montreal info package.

I was still feeling a bit loopy from the oxycodone. As we entered the store a woman was approaching. I said "Erica, I have a vagina just like that woman." This is not something I would typically say. :) Erica responded "Yes, dear, so do I." I don't think the woman overheard our exchange.

Just like her, and Erica, and all the other women out there. In other words, "you're normal, dear." 😄

Don't try to tough out pain. Its one thing I've learned from surgery. oxycodone or whatever they give you can be a real life saver. If it makes you feel a little loopy? Who cares. Hang in there on the boredom stuff. I totally am getting that. Day time TV is just about the worst...

Hi MrT,

I have very little pain now, so I'm fine without the prescription painkiller. I'm allowed to take ibuprofen again. That helps reduce swelling.

I am dealing with boredom in part by listening to new music on YouTube. I haven't turned on a TV in about 18 months. My roommate put one in my bedroom, but I have no desire to use it. I might feel differently if we had channels like History, Discovery and HBO. Anyway, with all the post surgery and complication maintenance, I sometimes feel rushed for time.

Much of the day I spend reading all kinds of things on the web.

I hope that when I next see my doctor Monday, I'll get his OK to increase my activity level a bit.

I am making a second attempt to post a response. I lost the first because of some 'unusual' behavior of the touchpad on this netbook. That's what I get for writing while naked with the computer balanced on my right leg. :) I am still naked, but I doubt this is something any of you would want to see. Post surgery at home care involves leaving the genital area exposed to air as much as possible. ;)

Slowing down and taking it easy is one of the most difficult things for me to do. This does not mean I cannot relax. I typically relax, though, by being active.

This morning, I was sorely tempted to drive to the botanic garden. I'm missing part of my favorite season at the garden. So I distracted

Hi River,

Thanks for the congrats, my friend.

The last time I saw you, you mentioned how much happier I am now than before I transitioned. My life continues to get better.

Dilating is still a chore, although it continues to slowly get easier. Until today, I often distracted myself from the discomfort and slight pain by:

Listening to music, especially Bach

Reading online news and

Working crossword puzzles

For some reason, these just weren't working during my first of four dilations today. Then I thought 'I'm dilating with a substitute penis, why not see if looking at photos of men, some naked, helps?' So I tried something new for my second set of dilations late this morning.

Although masturbating to thoughts or images of pre or post op transsexuals is 'officially' listed as a socially responsible way to 'get off,' (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=20453) I have no idea if it is socially acceptable for an avowed transsexual to masturbate with a hard dilator while looking at very suggestive and enticing photos of non-trans men in various states of undress. Yet this is exactly what I did and, without authoritative guidance, I have no clue if I am 'normal' or should feel deep shame for my behavior. 😄 The ethics of masturbation guide does not seem to address where transgender folk fit, although it specifically addresses how very appropriate it is for homosexuals to masturbate to all kinds of things. 😄

What I did find is that while dilating and looking at these photos, I had at least four vaginal spasms. They happened automatically and were quite enjoyable. Still being sort of new to this whole vagina thing, and although I suspected what the spasms meant, I wanted independent confirmation. What I found is that these spasms are an involuntary sign of orgasm. I viewed this as very good news.

When I lived in LA two life times ago this guy on the classical music station morning show said, 'A day without Bach is a day without sunshine'. he is of course right.

I am so glad you are doing better, keep having fun and exploring your new self. :) The one that has always been lurking there in the shadows. :D
