Its working, I have noticed that in the last few weeks people are using there profile more and saying in them Private OK, this is what we like to see.

First of all, thanks for responding to my earlier posts about the "no private chat" issue. I like the eunuch.org site and hope it can be the best site for everyone. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with the post.

Anyway, I don't know anything about the beta software that seems to be the genesis of this thread. All I see is the "archive chat" link off the home page, and there are only five rooms. When I click on the "show info" for the various rooms there is NEVER anyone in anything but the main room. Are we even talking about the same chat software?

I've never seen anyone say "no private chat" in their profile, and 80% don't even bother to put anything in their profiles at all.

Am I on the same page as ya'all?

Yes the rules definitely apply to the old Archive chat. The Main room seems to be the most active out of the 5. However most people don't even bother chatting in the main rooms and just end up sending private messages.

The beta software has been going through lots of changes the last few weeks.

Well not too many people put

"no private chat" in their profile.

However a lot of the regulars do include it. I agree it is annoying when people don't fill out their profiles, would make things so much easier.

9) Unsolicited private chats, especially to people with "No Private Chat" in their profile will get you tossed. (To view someone's profile highlight their ID, then click the Button labeled "Profile")

One small change should be made to this, I think. Usually, it's standard IRC etiquette to ask first, before trying to private someone. I suggest we move to that rule.

I would agree with IEunuch, we need to revisit the rules and update based on the new chat room.
