Chat Room Rules
Chat Room Rules
1) Minors are not welcome on the chat (Legal reasons)
2) Talking about cutting minors will get you BANNED PERMANENTLY. (This includes talking abut cutting your kids, your neighbor kids, etc. It does not include talking about the historical aspect of castration, or news articles.)
3) Impersonating someone else will get you BANNED PERMANENTLY.
4) Personal attacks & flaming will get you tossed.
5) Discriminating, ethnic bashing or derogatory remarks will get you tossed
6) Encouraging people to harm themselves will get you tossed.
7) Switching between multiple IDs will get you tossed
8) Blatant lies, or lies at the expense of another user will get you tossed
9) Unsolicited private chats, especially to people with "No Private Chat" in their profile will get you tossed. (To view someone's profile highlight their ID, then click the Button labeled "Profile")
10) People that enter and leave the chat rooms quickly (AKA Fly-Byes) may get tossed. (To view how many people are in a given room, highlight the room in question and then click the button labeled "Room Information")
Most of the above will just get you ejected for an hour or two, however if you repeatedly violate those rules you will be placed on the ban list, and possibly have an e-mail sent off to your Internet Service Provider for them to deal with you.
These Rules of Conduct are here to make the chat forum a safe and nice place to interact. Users should feel welcome and at home here.

Re: Chat Room Rules
The above are the rules that the Chat Room Operators are using. There are a few updates from the original set of rules that were added upon coming across different issues with problematic users in the chat room.
Questions and comments are welcome.

Re: Chat Room Rules
Antonia, you are the best.
Yes luvpain has used master25 and I have use the name breezy but both of us usally were on with our other Id as well, the reason for the other Id was undercover/covert operations all for the good of the chat. ( looks in mirror to see if nose is same size) sigh, so far so good I guess I should quit will I am ahead.
Today in the scheduled chat with another long time member both of us received IM's if you come in the chat and IM members without comming into a room and asking first you will be ejected. A total of 4 were this morning in a 2 hour period, no warning it just happens that quick.
If you people look at the instructions at the bottom of the page were you are signing into the chat you will see it, its right below the Connect to forum button. sigh,
Riverwind
Have fun and play safe
See you in the chat room first.

Re: Chat Room Rules
Hmmm...
Based on my experience with other chat venues, the "ask first" protocol in my opinion has some limitations:
1) I tend to ignore the main chat rooms (even minimizing their windows) and rely on my chat client software to make noise when someone IM's me. I would never see someone's (polite) request for chat before the fact.
2) My personal opinion is that BY DEFAULT one should be willing to accept IM's if visible in a public chat room. Otherwise, why would you be there?
For scheduled chats or those who's popularity exceeds their bandwidth (we should all be so lucky!), I propose an "invisible" mode. Thus you can continue with whatever you're doing up to that point, but just cease to be visible for others to see in the public room(s).
Just a few thoughts.

FYI...it seems that clicking the "back" button in a browser causes duplicate postings. I don't know if this a know problem or not.

Re: Chat Room Rules
Personally I agree with the crowd that says if you are in a public chat room and someone IM's you, you shouldn't gripe. However, if the person that is IM'ed not interested in chatting with that person, they should at least send a friendly reply stating that.
When I'm in chat rooms and someone does that, I respect their request.
I think the way the rules are set up now leads to the possibility of banning people by mistake, and possibly creating more problems for the chat rooms.
Though I think a person that did what I have in the past (respect friendly return messages stating the other user doesn't want to chat) shouldn't create problems.

Re: Chat Room Rules
OK we talked about this rule for some time, at the bottom of the page where you press the enter button to get into the chat there is a rule about private chats. When you are signing in, you also have the choice to put in a profile, tell us a bit about yourself.
Now there lies the problem.
I have put in my profile NO Private Chat along with other information. So I am in the chat room, Like last night, I got a Private Message I did not recognize the person, so I did answer and asked the person if they were new, answer was yes, I was able to guide him to the open chat. Where I think he had a great time and learned a bit about the Eunuch Archives.
A couple of weeks ago I got a private message, I recognized the name and knew he has been here many times, I asked if he had read my profile, the answer was no, what does it say?, (this shows a bit of lazy) I said no private chat, I am in the open chat room, he then responded with several questions, I responded I dont do private chats, his response was well fuck you and several other comments that fall under other rules
yes I ejected him, He signed back on under another ID, sent me a private message saying asshole
I do like a person with perseverance but, I ejected him again, he then sign on with yet another ID, IM me and said HI. My response was you are pushing it, are you sure you would not like to reconsider what you are doing, he said nothing and I went about my business.
My point is I post a lot, I am an advocate for Chemical Castration. I get a lot of mail which I dont mind and answer every one. In the chat room I like the open forum where several can chat at once, I will also private with someone who comes in the room and asks. Personally I really dont think that is unreasonable.
If you cant read instructions before coming in the room, dont read profiles, dont complain.

one2dizzo,
The problem with your suggestion is there is no way for someone to go invisible on the chat software. The New software in testing also lacks that feature.
The ones that are upset about the Private chats normally have
They also prefer to chat in the MAIN ROOM over being inundated with private chat message.
They are not there for the private message, but to chat as a group and not need to say the same thing over and over to people in private chats.
Also most of the private chats I have are not very polite. Instead of asking "Hi, are you free to chat" or something similar. I have observed that most people ask "What are your interests?" and don't bother to say anything about themselves. They are what I call "Fantasy people looking to get off"

Losethem,
Like I mentioned when replying to one2dizzo there is no way to hide on the chat system. The biggest gripe is with people not using the Main room to communicate; instead they just want to private everyone under the sun.
As for banning people by mistake, it is usually a matter of what that user has said in private. Although sometimes people do get ejected right away for sending a private, that is very rare. Usually us Operators do give people warnings before ejecting them. It doesn't always happen as we do have a life and are too busy to warn everyone.
Hope this addresses your concerns adequately.
