Doctors have told me that injectable, oral and trans dermal all work equally well; anecdotally TS rate their effectiveness in that order w/ injectable the most effective. That said I have known women who have had effects through all three methods. And orals are usually easier to come by. You can also have some feminization w/out taking blockers, though getting rid of facial hair is quite a bit harder, but it is believed you keep your male potency and size longer.

I completely agree. There is a really good transition sticky in this forum that is worth checking out too. Also would like to throw in that although orals are easy to come by and much cheaper they are a bit riskier from a health perspective. I have been on 2x 100 mcg transdermal patches(twice weekly) and 175mg of spiro for just shy of a year(took a few breaks) and have had pretty good results IMO for reference.

Did anyone start out with antiandrogens and DHT blockers first notice any changes in penis size function or 'feel' shortly afterward? I have an odd feeling or general sensation like when you're about to have an erection but it just stays like that and nothing happens. It feels like my testicles want to pull up tight to my body all the time.

What about when you start a low dose of Estrogen? What sensations and changes occur- accounting from personal experience? How is an orgasm different?

My doctor told me the results will be the same whether I take estrogen orally or via injection. However, she also said that the injectable flavor will make feminization changes faster.

I hate to point this out but I'm pretty sure that the prettiest T-girls have been taking hormones since their teens when their bodies are more receptive to changes by estrogen. It's probably not realistic if you are trying to get the same look if you are transitioning in your 40s or 50s.

I am not on hormones. Never been.

Personally, I say it's a lot more important how you present your inner self.

It's just that for a lot of us who need a bit of a help to look feminine, it helps us feel more- well, happy. It's just like an image thing with a girl wanting to be fit and trim. It can border on unhealthy, and the healthiest of us could feel feminine just from our inner self, but unfortunately we like to look it as well. I'm not trying to take an unsafe amount of anything, just doctor prescribed DHT blockers right now and maybe try a herbal feminizing product like Evanesce. I agree that any chemical or drug is going to have unintended effects as well: some positive, some negative.

There is a great deal of truth to what you say. I have known TSs who could never realistically "pass," but who were accepted as women simply because of a warm, nurturing nature. And I have known others who, despite SRS, facial feminization, and good genes, simply were never accepted because of a combative male personality.

That being said, when you look like Samuel Gompers, it is very difficult to get people to treat you like Daisy May. You obviously have good genes, are young, and are naturally pretty. For those without those natural advantages, hormones are a godsend.

How do you feel different with the addition of estrogen to the mix of antiandrogens?

With antiandrogens, technically a DHT blocker, I feel more tired and my metabolism has slowed down. Currently, I feel a little more anxious than I did before I restarted. Although so far this time I don't feel mentally sluggish (yet) or with what they call on the Propecia help forum the "brain fog," which I did before. But, to me, my penis feels different. Hard to explain. A change in perception or sensitivity, or maybe neurochemical. From all my reading on the subject, DHT "dihydrotestosterone" is like food for the penis, testicles, and prostate, so altering the levels available would in fact cause some change. But since they still market it for hair loss at 1mg, or prostate therapy 5mg, it can't be ruining penises worldwide. I would like to maintain some function, as I've read that a lot of people on Cyperatone lose function and stop ejaculating. - But again, it has a lot to do with each subject's own unique response to the therapy.

I'm against anyone who feels they need that little extra to help them along as much as I'm against someone taking panadol for a headache.

But, I'd quite like us not to be judged on how much hormones, or surgery or anything superficial we're doing or not doing. These things should not be a pre-requisite for being a woman or a transwoman, and well, I'd just like to dispel the sort of generalisation that any good looking transperson must be on hormones and have been for a long time.

That kind of sentiment often puts extra peer pressure on someone who might not actually need to be "medicalised" into seeking treatment simply because they are mislead into thinking they will not get the acceptance they deserve otherwise. Also, as I've mentioned many times, the less people seeking unnecessary treatment, the more places are available to people who genuinely need that little extra boost to maintain their mental wellbeing.

Hmm I'd like to point out, many cisgendered girls have a combative male personality too... I think its not so much personality, since there are cisgendered guys with feminine personalities who are accepted as being guys, and girls like that I've mentioned above.

It's a bit more complicated than just personality. I can't exactly articulate it properly, unfortunately.

If you're against, it means you're combative.

If someone wants to take an Tylenon for headache, then why judge them, or be against it. Maybe it makes them feel better.

Same for trans people who don't have the genetics that make them appear feminine, but have in fact a female mind, perhaps due to the prenatal influence of hormones, that constantly tells them they are a woman on the inside.

It's one thing to have the public at large against trans people, yet another to have the community itself splitting hairs and taking stands that aren't constructive.

Freedom of choice and freedom of destiny is a right we all have.
