Oh, and one more thing --
I think Blagojevich is that crusty snot stuff that kids leave on the underneaths of chairs when they pick their noses.
How's that for mean, nasty and ignorant!

Dave, but how do you really feel?
Have you looked at this guy, his eyes are way to close together, he is a shifty little shit that's for sure.
But, is he really guilty?
Will a second trial find him guilty on all charges?
Will they move the trial to Missouri or Indiana?
only time will tell but don't worry Dave he will never run for office again.

...
That's a dangerous question to ask of me, even rhetorically. I might just tell the truth of it all, everything.

As per Riverwind, maybe they did not have a case to begin with.
I do not know how many have served on jury duty, but once once does there is a mind change about how things realy go.A common thought is if you are guilty, go for a jury trial and the judge if inocent.
I sat on three trials and the concenses was that you are like a mushroom, you are kept in the dark and fed bullshit.
There also is the situation that twelve people can come to understand the case in twelve different ways. This I know sounds goofy, but Ive been there.
I lost a lot of respect for my peers.

Reports are the the jury was hung 11-1 in favor of conviction on the 23 counts hung. That is telling, on both sides of the issue. Generally, on retrials, there is a very high conviction rate, but it is never fully predictable. Personally, I think the Feds ought to take what they got, get him a few months in the Hilton, and let it go. They accomplished everything they set out to do, save for a long sentence - he could get up to five years on the one conviction, but likely that won't happen.

Double jeopardy does not and never has applied to cases where a verdict has not been reached. Also, in complicated cases the prosecutor will often hold back some of the charges in case another trial is called for. --FLO--

Also, you can only be tried once in a court for a crime, NOTE this does not mean that the Federal government cant go after you if the state fails. Example, back in the 60's civil rights cases in Mississippi where the state failed to convect the murders of three students the Federal Government did. however, the state charge was for murder, the federal charge was for civil rights violations.
Again that is not double Jeopardy. it only applies to the same court.
