Philately question, Palestine stamps
I have been asked why the King's head does not appear on the postage stamps issued for use in the British Mandate of Palestine in the 1940s. Can anyone help?

Uh... is this a quiz? I don't know. Perhaps because the French had all of the guillotines?

Re: Philately question, Palestine stamps
Just a guess. It is possibly that Palestine was a mandated trust territory and therefore it was not part of the Empire . Using that reasoning the King was not the head of state for Palestine and his head would not appear on stamps. As a matter of fact the King's head and name are not on the coins of Palestine either. --FLO--

Thanks to Uncle Flo and Colin. I'd forgotten that Palestine would not have been a part of the British Empire.
