But isn't God doing a pretty good job of doing a bit of extermination right at the moment, eh!

GOD, when? what? where? who????? show your work. Don't blame GOD or the GODS when you have nothing else to show for the failures of man.

Riverwind (imported) wrote: Thu Aug 12, 2010 6:37 pm Some of the changes in climate are due to short-term factors like large volcanic eruptions that launched tiny particles of sulfuric acid into the upper atmosphere (stratosphere) in 1963, 1982, and 1991. These natural events can change climate for periods of time ranging from months to a few years. Other natural events, like El Ninos, when warm water spreads over much of the tropical Pacific Ocean, also have large short-term influences on climate. The large spike in global temperature in 1998 was associated with one of the strongest El Ninos of recent centuries, and a weak El Nino contributed to the unusually high 2002-2003 global temperatures.

Not exactly what you said, like so many things you post its kind of true somewhat, but you do leave out what seems to be inconvenient to your cause.

The fact is that the temperature has been rising every year on average for a few decades and its not just volcano's or El Ninos, MAN is also causing a good part of it.

Hi, It ain't necessarily so. I have a weather station that records max. and min. every day here in NZ. The annual average over the last ten years has actually gone down a couple of points of a degree C., however last year here was over a degree C. colder than normal, so by and large there is no conclusive difference either colder or warmer.

Except for the fact that sea levels are rising and New Zealand is sinking.

The old Eugenics that was discredited nearly 7 decades ago?

The population bomb you read in HS that didn't understand that food could be grown more efficiently.

Well, yeah you can use fertilizers (made from cracking petrochemicals in plants that spew out carbon dioxide in addition to their hydrocarbon emissions) and plough, cultivate, thresh, and harvest with machines that burn oil and spew out more greenhouse gasses to increase food production a bit, but Malthus's basic assertion that unchecked population increases geometrically and food production can only increase arithmetically remains valid, even if we don't want to see what the consequences will be.

Malthus, of course relied on disease, famine, and war to counterbalance the geometrically increasing population because as a clergyman he understood that maiming, mutilating, killing, and starving people was the Christian thing to do to protect people's morals because of the severe adverse consequences of ideas like birth control, but the bottom line is still that this is a closed system; there is only so much land to grow food on, so much sea to fish (the mid oceans are largely wasteland, though sprinkling a little ferrous ion into mid-ocean would stimulate algae growth, provide food for krill and increase the fish, and so much water to drink.

There are only so many people the earth can support. At a quadrillion or so, the heat alone given off by the human bodies would raise the temperature of the planet's atmosphere to lethal levels and kill everyone off anyway.

Dave, In fact the opposite is happening. Due to seismic movement, little ol' NZ has been slowly rising over the years.

There you go, NZ will be high and dry while the rest of the islands sink, your weather will be wonderful but the rest of us will have weather that sucks.

In town, with pavement, buildings, etc., I read 101F today. Cousin read like 106F.

Calling for a high here of 100F tomorrow, plus humidity.

Storms over central Illinois right now, but I doubt they get here before they poop out.

I dread to see what a good strong cold front would do right now.

That's right. As we become bigger than Asia, we will have more room for migrants. Didn't USA sink years ago? Or was that just the motor industry, I've forgotten. But if you do come, please please bring lots of money.
