I've already had e-mails querying some of the geography and I have to admit I've taken several liberties. Readers in the UK may have recognised the Wey & Arun Canal, bits of which are under restoration and I've altered its course to suit the story.

More importantly, in one part of the story readers may find echoes of Coyan Hyde's excellent "Five Boys". I hope he doesn't object. But after all he borrowed my "Neutersol" for his own story!

This was my first "Simon" story and I felt a bit like I had come in on the middle of it (which I had of course) but I wanted to say I liked your quality of writing very much. The prose could easily have been found in a professionally published work, rather than an Internet based story. In many ways I felt the gaps in my knowledge made it a more intriguing story.

I have started reading the other ones now... But there are a lot of these, so could take me a while!

To point you right back to the start of the series, log on to "Simon Tells it Like it Was". This introduces the main figures and also "Neutersol" which does exist in fact, though definitely not for use on humans.

Though I say so, I think my favourite is "Simon in the Orient" which you might enjoy.

Not only do I not object, but I'm undeservedly flattered!

I, too, enjoyed the new story. "Their lust for the castrated boy was so palpable you could cut it with a knife"--What a wonderful choice of words! I particularly liked the part when George was being taken care of.
