I really enjoyed this story. Very well done.

Intrigue, back-room shenannigans, and a few twists and turns that I did not expect in what I at first thought was going to be a 'simple' story.

I very much enjoyed writing it and getting feedback from people. I think I have something of the writer's bug now, and find that I have more ideas than time to write them all But I hope to write something else very soon.

I would like to know about whether Jacob can save Tristan - but no, he mustn't.

Thanks Felix. You are the second person to ask about Tristan. I am not sure I can write his story just yet though. On the other hand, I definitely feel like returning to this world. I may write something completely different first though (somewhere I have all kinds of haf started stories that I always intended to write. I may finish one of those).

Calvin, congratulations for this story. I was naive enough to hope for (and expect) Jacob to pay the price for his misdoings, but the ending turned out to be a lot more profound than I ever expected.

I do believe that most of us can think of a Jacob among the people we have known. Only that probably most of us can't forgive our Jacobs as readily as 437 could. Such forgiveness probably takes a good dose of eunuch calm.

Thanks both for your comments. I think the story of how Alex eventually comes to forgive Jacob will need telling one day. Right now I am working on something quite different ... I am not sure about posting it up yet though.
