Re: androcur 50 mg/day
On my second trial I did 100 mg/day for 6 weeks and then dropped to 50 mg/day for another 6 weeks. The effects appeared to continue at the same level even with the lower dosage.
I stopped again about 2 months ago to see how long the effects would last and erections are still difficult with little or sometimes no semen output.
People seem to vary widely in their sensitivity to androcur.

Re: androcur 50 mg/day
I am considering trying Androcur, but am not certain how effective it is.
From personal experiences can those people who have used Androcur, tell how long it was before changes, i.e. loss of erections, inability to orgasm, loss of libido, took to occur? Did it take a few days, weeks or months?
Are there some people it had little effect on, or is it almost always effective?
Thanks

Re: androcur 50 mg/day
Hi,
My own personal experience and I cannot relate this to testosterone levels as I've not had any blood tests, is that the effects can start within the first week.
Having said that I've always had estasderm 100 patches on at the same time; never done androcur on its own.
Week 1 - a hot flush!
By week 4 at 100 mg/day with the estraderm as well, all the effects you wish for are there; at least in my case. After this month, you really need to drop down to a long term low maintenance dose as androcur does have risks and if you are not under the care of a doctor (like me) you need to take this seriously.
50 mg/day seems to be the most common maintenance dose from what I've read, but everyone is different in their response to this drug.
Remember that I'm using oestrogen as well and this also affects the outcome, so my experiences are not typical as the case you describe.

Re: androcur 50 mg/day
I am on Siterone 50mg twice a day for a few weeks now. My Testosterone tests have not came back yet.
No longer am I daydreaming about sex at work or running off to the bathroom(ahem). I dont get erections anymore though I can with enough stimulus(but why would I want to?) Its been great so far.
No hot flashes or lethargy. I am taking multi-vitamins and eating healthier so that may have an effect.
I was on Spironolactone 50mg twice a day for a few months but I was not getting the results I wanted so I switched.

Spirnolactone is a very weak anti-androgen compared to Siterone. Certainly it is cheaper but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Re: androcur 50 mg/day
Just going to start my medication for 50mg Androcur one tablet daily. I know I've asked this in these forums before long time ago, but cant find the thread anymore.
Does 50mg daily give me any feminizing effects (if does, how long does it take for them to occur?), or how the dosage should be given if I wish to maintain my outside looks and only kill my libido?
For what I've understood the 100mg daily is ought to be for the transexual change? Could people here advice me; what would be the prefeable dosage for a guy who doesn't want any outside changes in his body; no radical feminizing reactions whatsoever, but only to reduce his libido into practically nothing?

Re: androcur 50 mg/day
50 mg/day is enough to lower most males' libido. Note the word "most", as everyone's body chemistry and makeup is unique. Even taking 100 mg/day would not cause feminizing effects, but may cause some weight gain and/or hot flashes if your testosterone levels go too low. Feminizing will only occur with the addition of estrogen (typically estradiol) to your drug intake.
I would like to point out a few exceptions to the above:
(1) From my own experience, I could be taking as much as 200 mg/day and still got libido. Yes, it's much reduced from before, but still bothersome. This was several years ago. Then I learned about Tamoxifen. In combination, I was taking as low as 25 mg for Androcur and 20 mg of Tamoxifen, and my libido all but disappeared.
I have read other people's posts reporting the same experience.
(2) When androcur reduces androgen significantly, I start feeling sensitivity in my breasts and painfully swollen nipples. They were visually noticeable, even by other people. So, when taking Androcur for a period of time, like several months, you would start to get feminization. That can happen without taking estrogen.
It happened to me again after stopping a 4-year run of Androcur and Tamoxifen.
The reason, as I understand it, is that naturally, males also produce estrogen. I have been on Androcur for so long, permanent damage has occurred to my testicles and they don't produce any more testosterone -- certainly nowhere near as much as they used to because my libido did not return either.
When I am off Tamoxifen, which is an anti-estrogen, my naturally produced estrogen exceed what little testosterone my remaining organs can produce, and therefore feminization begins.
As a result, currently, I am completely off Androcur for nearly a year now. But I am still on 10 mg of Tamoxifen to keep from feminizing.

My experience is similar to hkeunuch's.
I started taking 20 mg of Tamoxifen daily soon after beginning 50 mg of Androcur. I would day that my libido was very low during the some 2-1/2 years that I was taking them together. Since stopping both and following up with alcohol injections, I've noticed that my nipples have become somewhat swollen and easily irritated, while my libido still remains low. If they continue this way, I plan on taking Tamoxifen again.

I misspoke. I was taking Androcur & Tamoxifen only 1-1/2 years. But my experience is the same. I didn't want to mislead anyone.
