Your welcome and I must thank you for responding as you have. they do have a few decent members there and they are getting a little bothered by your raid. It is possible that if you continue, you may cause them to pressure their trouble-making members into stopping this raiding crap.

I'm not certain how easy it is to backtrack a user's IP address when their ISP uses dynamic IP addressing. For Instance, my ISP, Verizon, does use dynamic addresses, and typically the particular address I'm assigned to for my internet session can be any one of 65,536 addresses.

In these cases, Verizon would have to match things up and come up with the actual user's account based on whatever information you (EA) provides to them.

Yes it would force the ISP to do some look to figure out the problematic user, but they should be able to do it fairly easily. Basically all dialup accounts are assigned a dynamic IP address.

I think it's ok to complaint about them and bann them if they're tastless or simply too stupid, but I think that should be it!

As far as I can tell they only stirred a few things up.

Being banned and maybe a letter off to their ISP and the owner of the site would be in order. However acting the same as them, or trying to hack or flood their systems with DOS attacks makes us no better than them. Plus it sheds a bad light on our community as a whole. That is not something we need as people already have a hard time accepting us.

I admit my previous comment was a little out of line about having them castrated. However I sometimes wonder if people’s closed-minded views would change if they were in other people’s shoes.

Look at all this! I'm off the Archive for a few weeks, and come back to find that 1) Someone has gotten himself a botched castration, and involved the EA 2) There is a group out there trying to attack and disrupt the EA. Wow! You folks have been busy!

I remember the days of the EA when it was an obscure web site with no more than three dozen stories and an arcane message board with fondness. (Heck, I was even flamed for posting a reply to those looking for cutters as foolish pranksters, Like I thought the site was only for writers and there could never be serious Eunuchs out there, silly me) Looks like a few bad apples have fallen off the tree and found their way in here. All in all this is still an impressive site.

Again, thanks for all that hard work Bboy, Paolo, et al. Nice flame job on that Mark Thompson guy. Should we all send him an email, or would that just give him our emails so he can harass us?

So looks like most of their shit is over, at least for now. Still, it is a good idea to have some kinda security measures in place, and a general plan on what our responses will be, in case this kind of thing happens again.

I am glad they got banned.

YEars ago whenm I was stupid about where I bpight my online service, I got involved with AOL and finally quit after a few years because of the abuse that other members heaped on everything that moved. There wasn't a session on AOL that didn't result in me sending a "Terms of Service" violation. I had permanent blocks on certain people who were too obnoxious to even descirbe. The last straw was 20 pictures a day from the "naked, hairy, fat men's spanking, S&M, and Tea social club" It took a week to stop them from sending those 10 to 20 e-mails a day.

SO good. Ban the little brats and be done with it. If their only purpose on this board is to be silly, aggravate and give bad advice (like brake fluid to remove hair) then ban them.
