It is all in good fun, I suppose. It is a small mind indeed that has to get their laughs at the expense of others.

The bad thing is that these losers think that they are superior but in fact they are not. I don't want to down anybody here but if they had a life they would be out living it at other message boards, experiencing everything that there is offered. That is why I am here. The average poster here is much better off than the idiot locker-room mentality (or lack thereof) that is exhibited by most other places.

Instead all they can do is to come to places that they say makes them feel creepy. If the truth were known I bet that they have ALL been over to the EA story archive dripping sex juice all over their keyboards.

Naw, we don't want to see these poor fellows castrated any more than they feel at this point that they want to be. Especially 'ol needle-dick. They need to spend their lives in sexual misery trying to find a hole to crawl back into. I guess that they can never understand any other way but their own.

So, live and let live. Sooner or later they will get theirs and that is a fact that I have seen work time and time again in my relatively short lifetime. I do notice how none of them mentioned the BME site that I linked them to. I bet that scared the HELL out of a couple of them. So I say that the "issues" of people here are not as serious as those of people who have no life except to disrupt others. After all, actions speak louder than words.

How many can say that in their lifetimes they have "cut" all of their troubles out of their lives.

Word of warning to any members of that board - while it's true that the absolute worst I can do is ban you from the board, and do so again, it's still fun to do. I take great pleasure in pressing that little red button with the skull and crossbones on it!

Just keep in mind, what goes around comes around and it's just as easy for member of EA to register there and attempt a hostile takeover.

I'm glad to see you removed your other Post Bboy Yes sending E-mail, mail or phoning Mark Thompson is the best method to complain and have some action taken against those losers.

If anyone did follow the old post STOP doing it, as it will not look good for out community, and beside it probably is not approved on in your Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) of your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

So STOP what you are doing and send an e-mail off to Mark Thompson.

Hmm, I know the feeling there Paolo. I take great joy in dealing with problematic users at work in my roll as Network Administrator (I prefer the title Network Nazi). Those perks are what keep me from going insane dealing with demands and complaints from the users.

Strangely, they do mention one method of helping to stop people like them. Is there any way to set this board up for e-mail verification of new accounts? It may not stop them completely, but at least it would slow them down somewhat.

I don't think it would stop any genuinely interested people from joining, either. It's a relatively easy process to get a free e-mail account, but going through those extra steps may help discourage these idiots from continuing.

One other thing. The board mentions "IP: Logged", in the bottom right of every post. I'm hoping this means that every user posting has their IP's logged in some easily-recoverable format. Mounting DDOS attacks may be against most AUP agreements, but purposefully attempting to crash & destroy message boards is against many as well.

Wonder what would happen if a couple dozen complaints came into their individual ISP's offices, naming IP, time, and offense.....

Instead of flaming them, and trying to crash they board, just making them have to find new ISP would be the ultimate payback

Addressing a few questions:

1) Email validation is now turned on, and has been since the upgrade for reasons unrelated to this attack

2) The board won't let you sign up for multiple accounts under the same email address, so each time someone is banned they have to use a different email address to re-apply

3) They can NOT "crash" the board. The board software they refer to is phBB, not vBulletin, which we run. They are obviously too stupid to know the difference.

4) The board also had "flood" protection on meaing that users have to wait a specified period of time between posting so they can't come in and flood the board with junk

In theory, anything can be brought down. In practice, it's unlikely they could actually bring it down, but they could disrupt activities here severely without almost constant guard to catch & eliminate terrorists like that.

They wouldn't have to bring the entire board down, just fill it with useless or offending comments, driving off legitimate users. It's been done before in various newsgroups and IRC channels. Not sure how often they've shut down message boards, though.
