Re: religion - general discussion
And George Carlin once said,
Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you and he needs money.
Yes George understood,
So do I,
River

It is the KEY to Alpha behaviors and it is how ugly men get good looking women. Remember, sooner or later, EVERY woman wants a man, or a reasonable facsimile. Gender dysphoria notwithstanding... It is YOUR job to make yourself available for that moment.
A-1, I think that this is the best advice I could get about male/female relationships and courtship. Especially the final sentence.
Thanks for helping me to realise what my job is.
Nice recent comments by all on religion too. Especially the one on Budhism which I found particularly amusing.

That's the stick. Believers can "let the good times roll." That's the carrot. They're all the same.
I'll make you a deal. For every ten bucks you send me, I'll return a chit good for One Helluva Good Time after you die. These can also be exchanged for beer, if you go bars in certain parts of New Jersey.
Remember what it was like before you were born? Neither do I. But all of a sudden, there you were! Same with me. How certain are you that the same thing can't happen again some time in the near or distant future after you (whatever 'you' is) die?
In other words, how certain are you that you are not repeatable? You probably wouldn't remember your former self, but are you certain you couldn't happen again sometime?

For what it's worth, I was married to a woman for 35 years and we had sex once, and that was before we got married. I got the clap from it and we never had sex again.
We are divorced now and living separately but we still do the same things together, symphony, opera, plays, movies, dining out, etc. That we did when we were living together.

...............Q. How do you stop a WOMAN from having sex?
...............A. Marry her...
...looks like it is mostly universal in it's truth value...

Admittingly, I haven't read through everyone's posts here so, if my comment is a repeat of someone else's, I ask River, Krister et al to delete it at their conveinence.
For all those who believe in basic Judeo-Christian ethics, please avoid the Reverend Jacobs and his Nom group who sent me an email today asking for financial support.
It seems Reverend Jacobs opposes gay marriages and has proposed a solution: he advocates the lynching of gay couples.
I already gave him my overheated reply which involved my shotgun.
