Elective Castration in the UK?

Post by lindsey69 (imported) »

Is it possible when not part of a MTF programme in the UK?

Dr Kimmel always seemed like a good bet in the USA but as that door seems to have closed, how best to go about it?

Thanks.

Not as far as I know. But when it's so commonplace for women to have hysterectomies, including removal of ovaries, I just don't understand why it's so difficult to get elective orchiectomy.

Progress is being made, although it is slow. For up-to-date information about the situation in the U.K., I recommend the Gender Identity Research and Education Society (www.gires.org.uk). Their web site has a great many education materials designed for everyone from the general public, to school teachers, to practicing physicians. I have spoken with several members of GIRES and they are well aware of Male-to-Eunuch as a gender dysphoria and it is noted in some of their more recent publications. This opens the door to approaching the medical community.

If you have BIID, however, there is no place that I am aware of anywhere in the world that currently accepts surgery as the cure. We're working on it, but there's much yet to be done.

I did wonder what would happen if I went to my local doctor and explained what I was doing i.e. self medicating to chemically castrate myself and then make two points:

(1) This will require regular blood tests (costs to the NHS)

(2) There are potentially dangerous liver toxicity risks associated with it.

..and that physical castration would remove the risks.

They could make the point that this is all self inflicted, but I would respond that I can't stop myself from going down this road.

I suppose that all this is a bit optimistic and if they say no, it would still get into my medical history for even asking the question.

"No Balls" - good luck at your Glasgow meeting. I'll be interested to hear what they say now after all this time.

Here you have a sympathetic audience. Your doctor might not be as sympatheitc and you;ll have to have good reasons for what you do. When I say "good reasons" I mean well thought out reasons and well thought out discussions. I know having testicles is emotional for you but the doctor and others don't feel those emotions. You have to put those emotions into words and phrases that convince a doctor. Think about making your case for the removal of testicles and putting it into words.

I'm not sure how much this helps. I don't know you or your doctor or the health system over there... However, I think that if you get your local doctor on your side, you are ahead of the game.

i honestly do not think that you need to use the right words and sayings to your doctor if you put your case in your own words to your doctor like i did worked for me i told him and the psychiatrist how i thought about things and how it was affecting me and my life and things moved on from there never found the need to make things sound worse i was just totaly honest with him and have had great help from all the doctors in the practise

it would be nice to have a doctor to do this for us..maybe in time

i always thought female urologists would not be afraid or have the hangup the male urologists do

they are more scared of the stigma

the only place i have found a willing doctor was in india
