OOO hadn't thought of that...figured too much risk of survival :) Yeah jump from plane would be cool. Not to mention the death chase scene in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (although I'd let the topless women catch me)..

Dead is dead.

Still, I think the guy in Utah should be strung up by his balls, summarily have them cut off with a knife, and left to bleed out. The testicular artery is very close to the aorta, as far as blood flow goes and if not tied off, is almost as quick as killing someone by opening up their femoral artery.

I find this whole thread disgusting, legal murder is still murder. The state does not have the right to play god if there is one. Murder is wrong it does not matter who does it for what reason, its wrong.

While some cannot but, succumb to going, off thread topic, 🙄

It seems to me a hole where my heart use to be would be as fast if

not faster then the guillotine. Anesthetized first - might be a trip.

If a government chooses to invoke the death penalty,

Moi's only requirement is that it be public,

broadcast of PBS, as to minimally establish for all to see the deterrent it is meant to represent or

River's disgust as to abolish this form of punishment.

Moi

Pragmatic Populist.

If you are going to have a death penalty, get the most out of it for the public welfare.

What about the old Sovietsky bullet to the back of the head? 💡

Welcome to Rome 2000 years ago, that's what they did, public executions in the Roman Colosseum, unlike the ovens of Hitlers Germany.

It should not be public, or private, it should not be at all.

Further, is anybody else tired of this thread?

I have heard that only one of the members of the firing squad has live ammo and that the squad members are not told in advance which of them has the live ammo. Don't know if this is true or not. Supposedly this was to make sure nbo one knew who actally fired the death shot.

As I say, I do not kn9ow if this is true or not.

In Utah only one does not have live ammo. The other five or six all have live ammo. Otherwise a miss could result in a long slow death.

It's only true if you don't know how to fire a gun. Anyone who is sufficiently good to hit the target knows when they fire a blank or a bullet. There is a big difference. The "evasion" of not knowing who fired the actual bullet is just that, an evasion for those who never fired a gun to feel that somehow they can never know the actual executioner or the actual executioner wouldn't feel guilty or some other such nonsense.

The only sure way to be sure the convicted capital murderer will not kill again is to excecute him. How many other prisoners and guards have been killed by convicted murderers? How many people have been killed by those killers that have escaped from prison? Punishment is not a deterent to others if you wait 20 years to carry it out.

I find our society in a sad situation where we find it perfectly proper to kill innocent unborn children but find it terrible to kill the people who have killed children, elderly and other defenceless people.

STOP RIGHT NOW AND DON'T GO THERE.

This thread was creepy gallows humor to begin with, leave it at that.
