Choice of Execution Style

Really getting DEEP and DARK here. What better place ๐Ÿ˜„

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100616/ap_ ... ring_squad

"Associated Press Writer Jennifer Dobner, Associated Press Writer ย– Wed Jun 16, 3:37 pm ET

SALT LAKE CITY ย– A condemned Utah inmate's decision to die in a barrage of bullets fired by five unnamed marksmen has been vilified by many as an archaic form of Old West-style justice. . . . "

This thread IS NOT TO ARGUE the Right or Wrong of Capitol Punishment.

Only, what means once a "state" has decided to employ, the death penalty.

The story reminded me of, Gary Gilmore who chose death by firing squad and refused all appeals.

I imagine a big hole where one's heart use to be is a pretty fast way to, expire before one's time and doubt there is even a, "hurts" consciousness.

A properly executed firing squad as in Utah, seems less inhumane then a botched or well done hanging or lethal injection, holding breath until y'gotta breathe the gas, electric chair, bronze bull ๐Ÿ™„, etc.

If a state decides to employ the death penalty, the choice of means seems to nullify the "cruel and unusual" argument most effectively. I always admired Utah on this point.

Personal choices of style of execution anyone, if it had to happen?

Just another advantage of the ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Federal system and State's Rights.

Of old age in my own bed as the oldest man alive.

You asked. I answered.

My last meal - the 24 hour Chinese Buffet at the Magic Mandarin in Hong Kong.

You didn't ask that but I answered.

Lethal injection is probably the most humane form of execution ever used.

Read a while back that a pathologist, if I remember right, said that the Guillotine was probably the most humane. Blood pressure drop would be practically instantaneous.

I'd pick firing squad assuming guillotine was unavailable ๐Ÿ˜„

Consider that it takes about 15 seconds for your brain to die after its been removed from your body, that would be a horrid way do die.

As for the death penalty, its outdated and should be done away with, the practice of killing someone is barbaric.

Prison without possibility of parol is cheaper.

Yes. I agree Riverwind. It's barbaric and it sends the message that it's ok to kill. Voilence breeds violence.

Leave it to a pathologist, another doctor who makes his living with a KNIFE...

๐Ÿ˜„

...ask yourself...which would YOU rather have, your head cut off or an intravenous line started?

I can testify to you that I have had an IV started but I would not consent to a beheading...

A cargo drop from a plane might be the most humane (and thrilling too).
