My first attempt on Androcur

Post by vanaker (imported) »

I have followed this topic for a few years now and wanted to try Androcur. I was out travelling lately and found some farmacies that sold Androcur (Europe).

I started with 150 mg per day for 10 days and then gradually reduced to 50 mg/d for another 10 days.

As expected interest in sex faded after one week and I lost interst in porn. I also lost energy and had felt sometimes warm and sometimes cold. It may not be entirely due to Androcur but I did not feel well. I do not have any medical follow up (which i should ) so to be on the safe side I quit after 20 days. I have been off Androcur now for a few days and I feel better. I still have no interst in sex(good!). However I notice just before I stopped that my testicles were very soft. they are now slowly recovering but still softer than usual. I have not felt any Testosteron kick yet as someone has descibed in here.

Have anyone else experienced softening of the testicles??

I may try Androcur again and then for a longer period but i was worried about the loss of energy. Let me also add that I am 49yo and at very good health.

Hi vanaker,

Your experience fairly closely matches my own. I didn't stay on cyproterone acetate as long as you did but the drug still shut down my testosterone and it took several weeks to recover. My balls changed texture and felt a bit shrunken and were held closer to my body. They did seem to become a little softer in texture.

The lack of energy is a bit of a shock isn't it? In fact the whole experience is a bit of a shock. I felt quite strange as the drug went to work. I felt myself relax (the so-called eunuch calm?) but also slightly trembling. A strange sensation. I felt that my body was slightly shocked by the hormones being interfered with, or something like that. It was the hot flushes and lack of sleep they caused that made me quit the drug each time I tried it. Three times, so far. You'd think I would have been put off the idea, but I'd still like to see if I can get used to it.

All the best.

Hi Vanaker, I'm on Depo Provera (I think that's how it's spelt). I have the usual Lack of sex drive etc., I have noticed most of the things you mention, except I have not felt unwell, just lazy! Perhaps you could give D.P. a try to see if it suits you better. Chas.

A decent menopausal multivitamin might help with the hot flushes and night sweats. :) This Pure Essence brand stuff seems to be working for me lately in that regard. Not eliminated the problem, but greatly greatly reduced it.

I've been taking Cyproterone acetate 100mg) and estrofem (8mg) daily for months and months, with a monthly Depo-Provera shot. It has worked wonders for me. No feelings at all of being unwell. Yeah, a total lack of interest in sex and a total inability to perform. A loss of energy but, then, I was never Paul Bunyan to start with, so that has not been a major issue. I am a bit more lazy now but, what the hey, I come from Gaelic hillbillies, so laziness is an art form with my people. (We started going to college when we found out that that was the easiest way to make a living.) The breast growth rather surprised me but I am beginning to like it, though I have to be careful to wear loose sweatshirts and not tight tops. No weight gain, and I've not noticed a spreading of fat onto my hips, though I understand that will be coming. Some thinning of the hair on my arms and body.

I suspect that every human has a different reaction to some degree to a hormone regimen. To each his own, and better living through chemistry!

That's a good idea. Thanks.

Vanaker,

Probably the worst effect of being on CA is the tired feeling that I get from being on it. I found out that I had developed a severe case of anemia after I had been on it for about three months, so I began taking DHEA with it but that seems to increase my testosterone. I switched to mulivitamins and D and B supplements, which seemed to give me back some of my energy without increasing my T level. Still somewhat tired, but manageable enough to get through the morning. Recently, I reduced my intake to 25mg after almost two years on 50mg. This has resulted in a bit more energy, without any or only a slight up-tick in libido and no return to spontaneous, nightime erections, yet. I also seem to sleep better. As far a feeling hot and getting cold shakes, I still get them on occasion at night, even on 25mg, but not often enough for it to worry me. Sometimes my wife says that I am too hot to snuggle next to her iwhen she comes to bed when I feel fine so I don't know if its me or her. If I am outside working in the sun, this seems to exacerbate it.

I think you will see much less loss of energy on this male to female mix. You may also discover that you have "a" sex drive. It won't be wired the same as it was (Female versus Male) and without female levels of testosterone it won't be super strong but the feeling of Orgasm on Estrogen maybe worth the effort. Hopefully you understand long periods (more then 6 months) are going to make changes that are not easily revresable. Some maybe not at all (Such as the way the brain is wired.

Vanaker

Vanaker, and all,

DO NOT just start and stop Androcur or Siterone. Read the literature.

Once you start using this drug you need to slowly, over a period of several weeks, even a couple of months, "wean" yourself off this drug. To do otherwise will probably cause undesirable side effects, possibly damaging side effects.

This is a complex chemical that has significant repercussions to your body's hormonal balance. It is not aspirin. It is not a sex toy. USE ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS.

I took Androcur for over a year, I stopped when I was castrated, no side effects from the sudden stop.

WARNING:

Make sure if your going to self medicate you at least get your doctor on board with it so he can monitor things like your liver and testosterone count etc.
