AMAZING VIDEO: Cat saves boy from dog attack in Southwest Bakersfield

Dog will be euthanized, police said.

The dog is dragging a kid across the ground it had just pulled off a biccle.

Faster than lightening, the cat appears and when you can see it again it is facing the wrong direction, but it soon corrects that.

One can only imagine the number of "right on the nose" scratch hits this cat delivered. It really is worth the watch.

What update? All I see is the above news story and video went viral.

Link please.

Gracias.

I watched the second link frame by frame as best I can. It appear the cat got on the dogs shoulders and head and cut loose before dismounting. Really good stuff

I take back my comment regarding cats being assholes. Yes this dog should be euthanized, a menace towards children, I blame the owners

There is a bit of an interview today with the family,

and replays of the cat saving the boy from the dog.

The cat followed mom and dad home one day from a park walk, before they were a mom & dad.

The cat is a she, and they took her in although future mom is "allergic".

When the boy was born, the cat took to the baby and the parents had to keep separating them fearing the

cat would smother the baby.

It reminds me of one of those "Cat's Eye" stories, the one with Drew Barrymore when she was a talented little kid.

This cat had a calling and followed it even if it took years to fulfill.

The parents did not realize the cat was involved until they reviewed the security cameras.

The Lord made the cat in his own image, not people.

All hail the feline.

Here is a link to the updated video with the parents.

Way to go cat!

Having said that it makes me wonder why the dog attacked the boy? That breed of dog is not known to be on the never have around people list. There is a lot more to this story that has not been told, that does not by any means excuse the dogs actions.

The ONLY excuse I can think for the dog's actions is if the kid has a history of teasing it, like poking it with a stick through the fence or something. I have a friend who once had a dog, and found out the kids down the road had been tormenting it while she was at work. The dog hated kids to the day it died, but with adults, it was fine.

So why wasn't whoever took the video doing anything to stop the attack? He/she could have used her time to call 911 or go kick the shit out of the dog and save the kid.

The video was apparently caught by a surveillance camera that was always on. The mother was in the yard, near the kid, but didn't see anything until the kid screamed. By the time she go there the cat had already attacked the dog.

The question is still why the dog decided to attack the kid. He seems too young to have been going down the block to tease the dog – though other kids certainly might have.
