I had a cat that use to have stones until I changed to the proper food. I knew what cat in pain looked like. She got colon cancer and just stopped eating. I could feel the masses in her abdomen.

I spang for the surgery. She got better, had a recurrence and died peacefully at home with a kitty hospice arranged. At no time in her cancer time did she look pained. Just got weaker.

Could constipation be an issue.

Cod Liver oil works very well. Start with 1/2 teaspoon.

But, that is just a guess. Cats do need a high fat diet or they, plug up.

Oil would be more natural to Cats then fiber.

G'Luck

Seems like you will have to miss this year's meeting.

Or have Cat guilt forever after.

We have spent more money on sick cats than I care to think about.

Baby died a year ago or so. She was 25. I still miss her. She was daughter #2's cat, come to live with us. A house cat, she never spent a day outside. (Although when it was warm she occasionally ran out the door and spent an hour or so)

We still have 2 cats in the house, and 2 most of the time and occasionally 3 outside that stay in the garage... along with a generation or so of barn sparrows. Everything seems to get along...

...no small task...

I can't miss this year's meeting. It is just not an option for me.

Hopefully I can get something done for her tomorrow. Anything else, and my buddy will have to look after it while I am gone.

God damn I hope she isn't dying. I don't think I could take her passing while I'm out of the country.

Talk to her before you go.

IT will help you both.

I still consider for feral Orange Kitty when I see areas he use to nap.

We could never get close.

Old Fat Black Kitty has taken to rat patrol from the Neighbors patio down hill.

They are cool with it. But, she smiles, flicks her tail and will not come when called at sunset.

So I called the neighbor, went down and picked her up, carried her home. Well she learns quick.

Last time I walked down she saw me and left the yard and met me back home.

I hope she doesn't figure out, not going home.

She has survived coyote clean outs. I think the lighter colored cats get hit more frequently.

Orange cats with regularity.

I am relying on other people's kindness for me to go to MoM. If I cancel now, I'll lose my flight, and the person that paid my way may never offer again. I simply cannot do that.

After I posted my last message, I walked by the bathroom, where Sephie was laying. Her plaintive little meow broke my heart. It was the cat equivalent to, "Help me, Daddy. Please!"

Shortly after that, Persephone and I were on our way to the 24 hour emergency Vet.

At the vet's office, she was diagnosed with a colon blockage. (Giant poop ball) She turned up clean for any polyps, and no signs of cancer. She was slightly dehydrated. The dehydration was a surprise. She had been drinking.

They gave her an inter-venous injection of fluids. Treated her with anti-nausea medication, and gave her an enema with mineral oil.

I am $300 dollars lighter, and will have no spending money for the next few weeks, but the cat should be fine.

The doctor also gave me a powder to mix in with her food, to be given in addition to the Metamucil she is already on. The Metamucil bulks the poop. This new powder softens it. She should find litter box trips a lot easier now.

Since bringing her home, she has already had another good drink, and is back to laying in the bathroom. I think the floor is cooler in there for her.

I'll know by tomorrow how she is doing. She should have a good poop soon (the doctor says.) Once she does, she is in the clear.

Keep your fingers crossed for Persephone and I. She means a lot to me. She's a good little cat.

(P.S. She does not think I am a good owner right now. She is very upset about the enema. But, I don't hold that against her.)

Dehydrated people block up on metamucil too.

Since cats do not like water, they just need some,

you might ask the vet if mineral oil could substitute for metamucil.

Or my preference, cod liver oil.

Also, place water dishes around the house. Not just one station.

Of all the dishes, my cats all prefer this 4" tall coffee mug on a 3" fireplace ledge.

They can drink from it without leaning forward much. Try one of those.

There are kitty water flavorings that are suppose to attract cats to drink more water.

Glad all is resolved and no malignancy involved.

Sorry you had to take her in and are financially depleted. That was still cheap my our local standards.

No Socialized Cat Care? Well you didn't have to wait 😄

Thanks for the good cat news update.

In lighter news about my two cats...

Ulysses has discovered the wonder of cold slush and ice cubes.

The other night I went out and got myself a coke slush from 7-11. My grey lad was VERY interested in it. He decided he liked licking the condensation off of the side of the cup, while I drank the slush. When I ran out of slush, and the cup was warm, Ulee was very mad at me.

Being the kind of dad who spoils his kids, I filled the cup with ice and water, and left him to it. He quickly learned that the ice and water was even better than the condensation on the side of a cold cup. He is in heaven with icy drinks now.

If I get a glass of water with ice, I have to pour him a glass with ice too, or we won't leave mine alone. It took him all of two days to teach me this new trick.

I have never knows a cat to do this before, and I've had cats my whole life. Anyone else have a cat that likes ice in their drink?

I do leave water all around for my cats.

1 in my bedroom. 1 next to the bathroom sink. 1 next to their soft food bowl in the kitchen. 1 next to the kibble bowl at the end of the hall.

The ones in my bedroom and bathroom, are both full sized drinking glasses. The one in the bathroom gets the most attention.

And of course right now, Ulysses is drinking his ice water, next to to me on the kitchen table. My cats usually love their water. I can tell you by their litter box (clumping litter) they know how to drink.

I am going to try some cod liver oil in their food. Right now, the only Cod liver oil I could find was in capsule form. I have no idea where to buy it in liquid form. I may need to go to a specialty health food store for it. Once again, more $$$ I don't have.

My friend, I am so sorry to hear about your little one, I hope everything is ok. I have two fury friends myself which you will meet when you get here. I know when they hurt so do I.
