The kitty im cat sitting has arrived, and already a couple of weird incidents have happened.
Local lore about black cats is:

Black cat crossing your path brings misfortune.

Dilated eyes in normal light means they are "hyper" about something or in hunting mode.

When you see the eyes in slit form, Kitty is feeling secure.

Have you tried some loose leaf cat nip.

Let kitty decide it's favorite corner. Cat furniture helps with their decision.

An old towel on something works, if the like the location. They like a defined space to claim.

Good Luck.

I am sure when you have to return kitty, you will miss it and all the little disasters.

:)

Old towel does not work, cat usually ends up on: clean sheets, clean shirt or anything, that is needed right at the moment :)

I live in a small 1 bedroom flat which is the living area, bedroom, and toilet. last night around midnight he vanished. i looked everywhere in the house for an hour, no sign of him. no sounds, nothing. he mysteriously reappeared at 7am. he seems to be able to come from directions which are impossible without going past me. He seems... unusual.

Some cats are adept at blending with background. We have searched for the cat this way more than once, only to find it quietly sleeping somewhere or looking at us with surprised expression (like saying "what all this noise is about?"). More than once, we accidentally closed cat in a cabinet/cupboard (right word?), and that was not immediately obvious. The usual scenario involves door left ajar/open and a curious cat.

Had a cat that would squeeze into some very small spaces that was hard to impossible to believe she would fit. I believed after searching for a long time and finally finding her where it didn't seem possible.

The cat that adopted me is BLACK. She constantly crosses my path, steps on my toes, walks all over me..., demands that I feed her a little canned cat food every night. Maybe I do have bad luck but I don't think that it's any worse than the good luck I've had in the past. One must remember what the Cat Goddess bestowed on the ancient Egyptian. Windows. These were originally designed for cats to sun themselves and keep up with all the neigborhood gossip. But we can use them too. Doors. These were originally designed for kittens to play with each other underneath them. Yarn. --Very much designed for the use of kittens. Clothing. What else would a cat have to lay upon. Blankets. --Same thing. The cat prefers these things kept clean and smelling good too. Roofs. Fire and heaters. We also can use these things even though they were originally bestowed upon us for the use by cats. We have s-o-o-o-o much to be grateful to cats for. Thanks to the cat goddess.

Does anyone else have hunting outdoor/indoor cats? Or an arrangement with a feral cat?

Besides Rupert.

Siamese brothers, 🐈🐈 100% inside.

Old Fat Black kitty, :kittygray hunts by day, sleeps inside at nights.

Orange Kitty - feral, and took today off from daily feed. Can't get closer then 5-6 feet. I work on vocalizing around it and sometimes comes when I call the same. I also work on not spooking OK and letting him see me hold the other cats and petting them. He watches but, is not going to buy it.

Any ideas for taming the wild kitty? 🆕🐈

I say patience if it is going to happen.

🐱🛍️

And those are all the cat icons. We do need more Cat Icon selection.
