i was castrated when i was 40

almost 20 years ago

i have been on hrt all those years..first patches now gel..which gets better designed every year

my psa was .03 the last time it was tested

my urologist said she has seen low psa in all the men that had the testicles taken off before age 40

removing the testicles is a benefit for the prostate they think

This is quite common myth. E2 cannot be converted to T. There is no biochemical pathway for this.

Estradiol CAN be converted to adrostenedione and furthermore both testosterone and estradiol are created from masculine and feminine bodies from androstenedione.

Not all hormones are converted to each other. T can be converted to E2, but E2 cannot be converted to T.

ALL hormones can eventually through a step by step process be converted from one to another. However due to the intricasies of the metabolism this is not usually a wise decision on our part to do such a thing. As I stated earlier E2 CAN be converted to androstenedione as the metabolism requires.

I never heard about Estrine (perhaps it is estrone from premarin? If so, then premarin has some horse progestins as well). Facial hair growth may be due to increased adrenal androgen production. Estrogen to a certain level can stimulate adrenals (a little bit more cortisol, more progesterone and dhea).

There are no pituitaries. There is just one pituitary.

Pituitary does not produce testosterone or estrogen. At all.

I should have been more explicate: endocrine system of which the pituitary gland is it's main part.

Anyone getting injections? I have read that this is a bit of a rollercoaster ride in terms of levels. It is the only method of HRT offered here so that is what I would have to take or go without.

what kind of testing should be done? Countryside doctors are not up on all the city stuff yet.

Weekly lower dose injections may be the best solution. I tried 10 days and the first couple days and last days were still kind of weird. 14 days between shots sucked.

Insulin injections are very common among many diabetics and I really don't see why testosterone (or other hormonal) shots should not be so uncommon either. The technology behind syringes have actually come a long way since I was a kid and are a lot less painful. Many athletes do get these shots (for the wrong reasons) so that these shots could be readily available.

So as diabetic individuals take their insulations injections so too should certain individuals be able to get their testosterone injections.

I lost my right testicle last week due possible stage 0 cancer,

I need to go back this week for the results of the biopsy done on the Right one before they look at the left.

My doctor had originally thought to put me on Sustanon 250

Anyone had any experience with this product.

Thanks, I will try that in the future. I am trying to get weekly blood draws for levels, the results take a week and that is a pain.

Just checking in and found this discussion. I've been on injections at least five years. Once a week or I start going through male menopause.

Not a good thing can be said for that. As for levels, it seems every lab has a slightly different standard for low. EVERY doctor has a different standard for treatment of that low. I totally agree with Mr. T (egad a rhyme!), go to an endocrinologist. Not only are they more skilled at treating the problem but also identifying the cause. You need to know why you're low. It might be age or it might be more serious. If you're like me a have an issue with your pituitary gland, it might cause other issues. Treatment isn't that difficult. Living without treatment is. Its even harder for those who try to live with you.

I'm a 53 yr old eunuch and am using low dose compounded testosterone to prevent depression, osteoporosis, etc. I hover around 125-150. However, when I still had one single, though damaged testicle, my female doctor wanted to see if my testicle could be salvaged or forced to function better or push out more testosterone on it's own. I would go in weekly for an HCG shot and it did work initially, my "t" levels went up, but my damaged testicle never recovered and eventually failed. That's when Dr. Kimmel removed it and told me, "It's good you had this removed, it doesn't look good, it would have caused problems in the future."

But hey, if your testicles have not been damaged, HCG injections might jump start them and help them start pumping out more "t" on their own. It's worth a shot in my opinion. HCG is what a lot of body builders use to get their shruken balls to start up again after they've shut down due to steroid use.
