How to reply to a teen

A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car.

His father said he'd make a deal: 'You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut. Then we'll talk about the car.'

The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer, and they agreed on it.

After about six weeks his father said, 'Son, you've brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm disappointed you haven't had your hair cut.

The boy said, 'You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair...and there's even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair.'

Your going to love the Dad's reply:

(YOU`RE GONNA "'LOVE" THIS ANSWER) .........

Perhaps, I would have liked the dad's answer better, if I hadn't been told twice I was going to love it.

A great way to ruin the punch line of a joke. If it won't stand on its own, it's probably not too funny, is it?

This is reminiscent of a joke I sometimes tell my gear-head friends, especially when I am in the midst of fixing a Ford. (In case you don't know, most mechanics hate Fords, in the Ford-vs-Chevy battle, Fords are just so so so much harder to work on, repair, or get parts for, so around most garages and shops, you will find that Ford is often the butt of a joke.)

As someone says something BAD about a Ford, I take a conciliatory tone and say "Hey! Fords aren't all that bad! According to the latest research done by Christian Biblical Scholars, Jesus probably owned a Ford." There is always a bit of a pause while people think a bit on that... Fords were not made in Jesus's time, how could Jesus have owned a Ford?... Then I say, "Well, they KNOW Jesus had to own a Ford because he WALKED everywhere all the time."

Kinda dated isn't it? I mean most guys wear short hair these days; that's like something from the Vietnam era.

Now you have gone to far, Nam era, ha, my kids all had long hair some still do and they are not that much older then you are. Nam era.

When my kids were teens I told them they could ware their hair anyway they wanted, if they wanted an earring, go for it, the only thing I asked them was to keep talking to me, it worked, they still do and never forget to say I love you when we talk to each other to this day. My oldest son is in his mid 30's still has long hair, is a poet and writer so he gets away with it, talked to him this weekend as he was doing a reading on a radio show in Chico, the last thing he said to me was I love you pops, talk to you soon.

Its not about the hair, never was.

I can definitely attest to Paolo's experience with Fords and Dodges. My own experience with Fords is similar. That is why I now drive a Chevy Silverado (with nearly 350,000 miles I put on it, and still going strong), and encourage Paolo to go Chevy next time, too.

I personally have had 10 Fords and 2 Chevys. All the Fords combined have never had the problems of one Chevy
